"Mmm," Shae responded as his eyes swept over her once more, though it was unclear whether he was acknowledging her words or simply enjoying the view. His gaze lingered for several moments at the neckline of her dress before returning to her face, seemingly nothing more than a casual glance.
He nodded in the direction of the building, silently cursing himself for intercepting the armful of books since it prevented him from touching her. It was probably a blessing in disguise, though; wouldn't want her to end up slapping him this early in the game.
There seemed to be something else fueling this sudden, intense interest he was experiencing, but it wasn't any sort of feeling he could rightly explain: his heart beat just a bit faster whenever she spoke or looked at him with those dark eyes- wait, were they actually dark, or was the lighting just that bad?- and he had to stifle the sudden, overwhelming urge to press her back against the car and swallow those sweet Southern sounds between his lips.
"Allons, ma cher," he murmured as he winked and began to walk backward toward the front entrance. "Le's git inside fuhst, den you tell me yo' life stohry. Can' see yo' pretteh eyes out heah."
