Her brow arched; hastily she put it back in place, adopting a neutral expression she hoped was appropriate to the situation. He seemed neither comfortable nor familiar with these sorts of confessions, but Karin knew well that the combination of a streak of bad luck and an unbiased party willing to listen was enough to loosen many a tongue. Her lips thinned, pursing thoughtfully.
"I haven't," she said, painfully honest. "But I know plenty of other people who have. It can be easy to get on the wrong track, or just to fall into some bad circumstances." She drew a shallow breath, considering. He had not overtly solicited her advice, but it was difficult for her to hold her tongue when she felt she had something worth saying. And in any case, the man was just a stranger, someone who could accept or discard her opinions with no fear of repercussions, no chance of later, potentially awkward meetings. She smiled again, though hesitation yet lingered in her eyes. "It seems like you're mulling it over, though, which is a good start. It's never too late to forge a new path, right?"
