She lifted a hand, palm toward him, waving off the offer. Though her refusal was polite enough, she did not think to check the faint wrinkle that appeared at the corner of her nose, betraying perhaps a bit more than she might have wanted. She remained an arm's length away, still uncertain what she made of this new acquaintance. Familiar-seeming or not, there was no reason to throw caution to the wind.
"I'm here a good bit," she said, "but not always in the water. The cold doesn't bother me. It's invigorating, really." She quirked a faint smile, softening her expression. "It sounds like this isn't normally your bag, though. What brings you out?"
