Easy Like Sunday Morning
Who: Mirza and Kami
What: Even exotic dancers and shop wenches have to have a day off sometimes.
Where: Starting in the lobby, on to Kami's apartment.
When: 10/24/10
Warnings: None at the moment.

With one ear-bud in and her iPod treating her to some Lady Gaga remixes, Kami hummed along cheerfully as she managed to bump open Pax's door with a well-regulated hip bump. The jolt forced her to scramble for a second to re-establish control over the multiple bags slung over her wrists and cradled in her arms but, in the end, she was triumphant. She tried not to think how she would manage to get her keys out and her apartment door open. Either she would sprout another arm, use her mouth, or do the mature thing and set something down. It didn't matter which. It was a gorgeous Sunday, just before noon, sun still shining despite a few threatening clouds, and Vons' had a sale on chocolate chips. There was also a Halloween party right around the corner and her birthday. What more could a girl ask for?

Speaking of parties, she thought, she should double-check the costume hanging in her closet. She knew it was the right size, technically, but you never could tell in the bag with off-the-rack things. As much as she wanted short and sassy, there was such a thing as too short and sassy. No need to invite the world to view the good china, right?

As she passed the bank of mailboxes, though, Kami slowed as she tried to remember if she had picked up her mail the previous day or not. She wrinkled her nose in thought, pretty mouth screwing up in concentration. Absently, she shifted her weight to one foot to better balance her bags out as she paused. She tapped the other on the floor softly, patent-leather pump making faint clicks.

Mirza snorted a little, "Maybe. Maybe not." Alright, so he was being a little snarky. He couldn't help it. "I prefer to think I'm special. The one and only," which was kind of like saying that yes, he knew exactly how it was and was showing it. Mirza made a soft sound of agreement but then, he was watched a lot and it was generally... exciting in a way. Sometimes he just wanted one person's eyes and one alone for as long as he could keep them...

He took the glass with a little nod of his head, sipping gratefully - mm. Alcohol. Hmm, maybe he had a problem. "Wouldn't dream of thinking such a thing. Besides, I'm hardly a man. I'm a lady-boy," he laughed, shaking his head a little. What, he could make fun of himself.

"Lady-boy, man, boy, whatever." Kami sipped her own wine, dark eyes warm on her guest. She gave a little wave with her free hand before reaching out to tuck a piece of his hair behind his ear. The motion was gentle and affectionate. "You're cute, Mirza, and you damn well know it," she continued, breaking into a wicked little smile. "I bet it's gotten you into all sorts of apartments if you were interested but..." She drew her hand back and tapped the side of her nose with a finger, a teasing, knowing gesture. Then she giggled. "But it's still the truth even though you're not really that strange, are you? We just haven't spent any time around each other outside that bar."

She settled her glass on the island and then turned on her heel to switch off the stove and pull the pan from the heat. Her back to him, she went on tip-toe, balancing for extra height despite her heels, to take down plates from a cupboard. "And watch all you like," she added casually. "Neither of us mind, right?"

Not waiting for an answer, Kami quickly dropped back down and neatly assembled two plates, snagging forks from another drawer. Then she returned to his side and slid the steaming, fragrant plate before him. "I hope you like it."

Mirza snickered, grinning at Kami, "More like gotten other people into my apartment. Lesson learned: never let Shae put handcuffs on you. Good God that boy is rough." While it made for an amusing story, he had been so pissed off at the time. He could not be marked. It would lose him money because it ruined whatever fantasy his audience had that maybe he was theirs, dancing only for them. "Exactly."

He pressed his lips together, hiding a grin and only allowing himself to say, "Something like that." Oh he loved to watch. And be watched. But he didn't at all mean that innocently. When his plate arrived, he made a gleeful squealing noise, "Yay food!" Really, that was all the celebrating he needed. But first, a sip of wine! Alcohol was more important.

Kami giggled herself as she slid into the other seat and picked up her fork. She propped her elbow on the island and leaned her head into the upraised hand while she watched Mirza take a deep sip of wine. A smile lingered on her full mouth, a little mysterious and dreamy. Her gaze seemed to be half-focused on the handsome young man in front of her and half somewhere else. Privately, she toyed with the idea of mentioning that she didn't find Shae at all rough... Or maybe it was just that he more than willingly let her take the reins. The memory warmed her cheeks and she hoped the blush she feared hadn't appeared. If so... Oh, well. Mirza would probably just leer.

For now, though, he had moved on to enjoy the food and Kami pulled herself back from her moment of pleasant daydreams to watch her guest eat. Satisfied that he liked her cooking, she turned her attention to her own plate. It really was so much nicer to have company, she thought. And Mirza was lovely company indeed.
