Easy Like Sunday Morning
Who: Mirza and Kami
What: Even exotic dancers and shop wenches have to have a day off sometimes.
Where: Starting in the lobby, on to Kami's apartment.
When: 10/24/10
Warnings: None at the moment.

With one ear-bud in and her iPod treating her to some Lady Gaga remixes, Kami hummed along cheerfully as she managed to bump open Pax's door with a well-regulated hip bump. The jolt forced her to scramble for a second to re-establish control over the multiple bags slung over her wrists and cradled in her arms but, in the end, she was triumphant. She tried not to think how she would manage to get her keys out and her apartment door open. Either she would sprout another arm, use her mouth, or do the mature thing and set something down. It didn't matter which. It was a gorgeous Sunday, just before noon, sun still shining despite a few threatening clouds, and Vons' had a sale on chocolate chips. There was also a Halloween party right around the corner and her birthday. What more could a girl ask for?

Speaking of parties, she thought, she should double-check the costume hanging in her closet. She knew it was the right size, technically, but you never could tell in the bag with off-the-rack things. As much as she wanted short and sassy, there was such a thing as too short and sassy. No need to invite the world to view the good china, right?

As she passed the bank of mailboxes, though, Kami slowed as she tried to remember if she had picked up her mail the previous day or not. She wrinkled her nose in thought, pretty mouth screwing up in concentration. Absently, she shifted her weight to one foot to better balance her bags out as she paused. She tapped the other on the floor softly, patent-leather pump making faint clicks.

He settled that one bag in his hand, arching an eyebrow at the touch of her hand. Oh that had been deliberate. There was no way it couldn't have been. "Then you'll be disappointed to know you're still seeking a rarity. No one ever said I was good," he grinned cheekily as he slipped his hand through the loops of the bag. For a moment, he only ran his fingers along the inside of her wrist but it was brief and he came away with the second bag without another word.

Mirza laughed softly, so glad to have run into someone amusing who turned his day right around. "My darling, the world laments at you having to do any sort of physical work. You should have men carrying you in a litter to and fro." Yes, he was being overly flirtatious but that was just the way he was. He nodded to her, letting her lead the way as he didn't know what floor she lived on.

Kami laughed, spinning on her heel to lead the way towards the elevator. Normally, she always took the stairs but, despite how fit Mirza looked, she wasn't sure how he would feel about a 6 floor walk-up. Manners and consideration, that was the way to go. "I really like the way you think," she answered. "Only get the exercise I want to get. Hm, that is such a totally attractive idea."

She tapped the button to bring the elevator to them and looked over her shoulder to share a teasing smile with him. "And, by the way, I was kinda using good as... Whatchacallit? Less as a value of gentleman and more of a, hm, hurray, I like that." She winked as the elevator door dinged and opened for them. "I'm liking this building better and better."

He would have been fine doing the 6 floor walk-up but it was nice of her to be so considerate. Although he was kind of paranoid about this elevator. What if it broke down? Or he got molested aga--okay so that last part was a really good idea but hey. "The only exercises I like to get are dancing and sex so I'm pretty much the king of good ideas when it comes to exercise." Modest, he was not.

Mirza shrugged his shoulders, "I know. I just like to be naughty." Actually, he didn't know but that was entirely beside the point. What was more important was that he really did just like to be naughty. He let her into the elevator first and followed, settling back against a wall and crossing his legs at the ankles. "This building is great," he agreed, "A little psychotic, a whole lot sexy." Without at all trying to hide it, he looked Kami up and down with a grin.

Amused and tickled by his outrageous flirting, the curvy brunette mirrored his position on the other side of the elevator after pressing the button marked 6. "A whole lot sexy," she agreed with a cat-and-cream smile. "And variety. Lots of variety."

Something he had mentioned in passing, though, really caught her attention and she tilted her head to one side. "Dancing?" she repeated. "Oh, God, really? Please tell me you're not lying." At his raised eyebrow, she giggled and shrugged. Her free hand made a vague gesture towards the rest of the building outside the elevator. "It's like pulling teeth to get most men to dance and I love it so much. Solo time is fine but who wants to get rusty when it comes to partners?"

He shook his head a little just to get a thick strand of curly hair out of his face. It didn't quite work but oh well. "Maybe for you. Too many heterosexual males around here and not enough women into girly boys." He didn't sound bitter though; it was just fact. Although he seemed to have found one of those few women... Maybe.

Mirza was surprised at the one thing she had picked out. "No darling, I'm highly trained. I'd be even more trained if I'd gotten to go to college." He licked his lips and did his very best to ignore that she had pretty much described... well, something other than dancing. He cleared his throat, tilting his head to one side a little, "I do a lot of solo dancing and it gets so awful... But at least I get paid for it." Once more he sounded like a prostitute. Oh well.

Even as he finished explaining his job in the most vague and potentially filthy of ways, Kami was already across the elevator car and gently pushing the offending hair from his face. Tucking it behind his ear, her fingertips grazed the curve for a moment before she pulled away, stepped back, and readjusted the bags in her grip. "Oh, really?" she asked.

Before she could ask more, the bell rang and the doors slid open. "Oops. Here we go. I'm 607 so... Sixth floor, ladies undergarments, hoisery, and shoes. All off." Shooting him another mischievous grin, Kami led the way down the hall to her door, steps quick and almost skipping. It took some work but, by helping to balance her purse against the door, half-propped up on a lifted and bent knee, she managed to extract her keys and get the door open. "Just bring it to the kitchen, hon," she called as she headed for the immaculately tidy counters, bypassing a rather less-tidy living room - complete with a pair of red pumps peeking from under a pillow and a sheer white blouse draped over the arm of the couch.

"And then what can I offer to thank you for being such a chivalrous gentleman?"

Potentially filthy. Actually really and truly filthy. Whatever. He had to resist the urge to make an 'aw' sound when she fixed his hair for him even with those lingering fingertips. Girl was flirtatious and he liked it. A lot. He'd been about to tell her as the bell dinged and the doors opened. Wow, the elevator worked right for once? "Oh!" he said with a little squeal of delight, "My favorite floor!"

He laughed brightly as he followed her down the hallway to her apartment. So she had one of the good numbers with the better view. Lucky girl. He would have helped her wrangle her keys but he hadn't gotten quite the good opening so he let Kami do her thing. Politely ignoring the slightly messy living room, Mirza followed her into the kitchen and set the bags on an empty space of counter.

"Oh, no charge, lovely," he answered cheerfully, settling in beside her for a moment, hand resting delicately on her shoulder. If she were anyone else, he might have asked for something dirty but a woman took a lot more finesse. "When it comes to a lady in distress, I just try to be helpful."

Kami brought her hand up to rest over his, giving his fingers a little grateful squeeze, and she turned her head to show him her pretty smile. "So you're my kinda-white knight for the day," she answered. "I still say thank you. I would've hated to break anything while balancing all of those things. You're a sweetheart."

As she gently disengaged his hand then, she leaned in to brush the very briefest of kisses over Mirza's cheek, utterly chaste and butterfly-teasing. "Thank you, kind sir."

Then she slipped away and left him by the counter as she began to empty first one bag and then another, putting away the various items with perfect efficiency. Her heels tapped merrily on the tile as she moved. "So you dance and help random girls in the lobby," she said over her shoulder. "You sound like a very talented guy."

"Something like that," he said mysteriously, taking the moment to look her up and down once again. Yeeeah, definitely more a tarnished knight than white. "I try but I can't help being a cad at heart," he admitted, laughing. With her gentle movement, he removed his hand arching an eyebrow at the kiss - definitely sweeter than the ones he was used to getting. "Quite welcome, milady. Quite welcome," this was just getting silly!

He leaned on the counter, watching Kami put the groceries away. Mirza would have helped but he didn't know where anything went so he would have done more harm than good. "If I were talented, I suppose I'd be a professional dancer rather than a stripper but hey, wish in one hand," he laughed it off, shaking his head a little.

"... A stripper?" The hesitation barely lasted half a heartbeat but there was only curiosity on Kami's face when she turned around more fully, a box of cake mix in her hand yet. So the pause clearly had nothing to do with a judgment call. He had to give her a point or two for that.

Without looking, she put the box on the counter behind her; her attention was focused all on Mirza and she seemed to be processing both the condition of his body and the way he had been moving. A slow smile curved her lips. "I bet you're fantastic," she finally said. "How do you get into that kind of thing? I mean... You mostly see the ads about female strippers. Do you get to choreograph your own routines?"

His mind was on 'ooo cake' and not the pause anyway. He was really looking at that box, trying to figure out what kind of mix it was and how could he schmooze some cake from her...

And then Mirza realized he was being looked over so he straightened up, letting her take in her fill, make her judgment. He chuckled at her final assessment and said, "Thank you," as modestly as he could. He was not a very modest person. "I do get to choreograph my own stuff, yes. And I got into it because I have no other skills than dancing. So I work in this dive of a club in a nasty part of town that's full nude male dancers."

"Full nude?" she repeated with another blink. Then she gave her head a little shake and Kami pushed off the counter behind her, making for the refrigerator. "I've never been in a strip club," she continued as if that would explain the time she had needed to picture and imagine Mirza's place of employment. "Some of the girls back in college wanted to go to a girlie revue but they chickened out at the last minute. I don't know why."

Kami shrugged and paused with her hand on the handle of the refrigerator. Her dark eyes ran over Mirza's lithe figure again with professional appreciation, a dancer recognizing another fine body. She sighed, a quirky smile at her lips. "Girls are pretty," she mentioned lightly, "but I bet your show is really something else. Now... Do you want something to drink or anything?"

"Mm-hmm," he responded with a nod. Mirza settled back against the counter again as she started working again on the groceries. "It's fun to go but you gotta be careful which clubs you go to. Places like mine are dangerous," perhaps not the best thing to say but he'd been working there for awhile and only been hit once.

Mirza had seen that kind of look before and he arched an eyebrow, meaning to ask but he'd answer her first. "Girls... are very lovely," he grinned, eying her with more of a lewd appreciation. He couldn't help himself. "I'll have whatever you're having, darling, as long as you tell me something about yourself now. What do you do for a living?" He had to know. Was she a dancer too? Hell, maybe he'd accidentally run into a talent scout. But Mirza was not really that lucky.

"I work at Disney." The way she said it hinted at backstory but her previously loose body language going stiff warned him off the topic. Kami turned to open the refrigerator and withdrew two bottles of vitamin water. When she face him again, though, the moment had passed and she smiled just as prettily as before. Winking, she tossed Mirza one of the drinks. Then she followed after it and leaned against the counter beside him, settling in close and comfortable. "I mostly dance for fun now. Musical theater is kind of scarce on the ground here and big breaks..." She shrugged, Gallic, and twisted off the cap of her bottle. "But I have to keep moving."

He arched an eyebrow but said nothing. Disney. Why did everyone work at Disney here? Well, not everyone. He didn't think Shae would ever get passed the security checks there. Mirza was a little disappointed when she produced vitamin water but hey, he couldn't drink alcohol all the time so when he caught the water bottle, he had the good sense to look damn gracious. "Thanks, love. Don't I know it... I'd love to just be some dancer in the background or learn enough to teach choreography. You and I, my darling, are birds of a feather." He saluted her with the water bottle and twisted the cap off his.

Kami laughed and lifted her own bottle. "I like feathers," she agreed. "They work for me." Her dark eyes sparkled with mischief as she took a long swallow of her water. Wiping her mouth then with the back of her other hand, she grinned at him. "How about you? What's your opinion on feathers?"

Mirza watched her - even watching the movement of her throat as she drank her water. What? If you really thought about it, anything could be dirty. Even that. Ooooh, especially that. "I love feathers... They feel great in just the right places," yes, he did mean like that. You know you were thinking it. Although he had no idea how they had gotten there. "Why do you ask?" he questioned, arching an eyebrow before taking a dainty sip of his water.

She duplicated his expression mildly, one perfectly shaped dark eyebrow lifted until she relented and grinned. "You're the one who said birds of a feather," she pointed out. "You could say I was looking for our feathers." She gave her head a little shake and reached for Mirza's hand. "Sorry, that was kind of random."

Lacing their fingers together, she gave a tug and pulled him towards the couch. "So," she began again as she helped her guest get comfortable, "How do you go about choreographing your sets? Are you going for an emotion, a story?" She smiled, eyes twinkling now with mischief. "Or is it all kind of aimed at just the one emotion?"

"True," he agreed with a shrug of his shoulders although he wasn't sure how that turned into talking about actual feathers. They were in a weird place really. Thankfully, she acknowledged it first.

He watched as she laced their fingers together and followed her towards the couch like a very willing puppy. Yay for sitting down. He settled on the couch quite comfortably and quite close to Kami at that. It was that lack of personal space thing. "Pretty much just go for the one emotion. You aren't getting tips trying to act out Swan Lake with a pole and your penis."

"You know," Kami drawled, toying with the cap on her bottle and giving him a sly look out the corner of her eye, "Can they even tell the difference sometimes when you're up?" Before Mirza could react to the clearly filthy innuendo or her quick glance downwards to drive the point home, Kami giggled and squirmed in her seat beside him. Coming to a rest again, she faced him with one leg tucked up beneath her, knee pressing gentle into his hip, and she propped her elbow on the back of the couch so she could better lean her head against the upraised hand. "Is the pole hard to work?" she asked.

He laughed at her sheer audacity and shook his head a little but he couldn't really think about a response when she was all wiggly. Part of him wanted to pull her into his lap but they didn't know each other very well... That didn't usually stop him but it did now for some reason. "Physically it can be pretty demanding. Emotionally more so," he didn't elaborate, more thinking about walking two fingers up along her thigh but he couldn't - his fingernails were too long and it'd likely end up just stabbing her. Stupid fingernails. "Has anyone ever told you that you're pure evil?"

"Actually... Yes." Kami gave him an unrepentant grin. "Just the other day. I think they're teasing, though, when they say that." She studied his face for a moment before relaxing further in her spot. "With what you do for a living, do people tell you you're all sorts of things?" she asked and again there was nothing but sweet curiosity in her words. It wasn't a fishing trip for dirt; Kami was clearly fascinated.

Mirza laughed, giving in just a little to circle a fingertip on her knee and licking his lips, "I think you are evil. But a good evil. Same kind of evil I am." Oh she had to ask that. With a little sigh, he settled deeper in the couch and took a sip of the water, "Of course they do. It doesn't help that the joint is seedy and that some of the other dancers will indeed take someone in the back and give them a little head or a little fuck. Whatever. I don't." His parents would have killed him if they knew what he did for a living... Good thing he was beyond old enough to make his own damn decisions.

Kami was too honest and reactive by half; her expression in response to his words reflected annoyance and disgust, nose wrinkling as if she had smelled something rancid. Then she immediately leaned in to touch her forehead to his shoulder in easy affection, arm on the back of the couch moving to give a single, gentle stroke to his thick hair. After a moment, she drew back again and gave him another smile. "So your co-workers are the stereotype, fine. I'm glad you're not. I'd hate for my first stripper to be someone less interesting than you are."

It really was awful but Mirza wasn't about to hide what was going on. Maybe if he told enough people and the right people, someone with connections and money could fix his world. Get the club cleaned up... He made a soft sound that would've been a purr if he were a cat. "Well I'm not gonna say that I wouldn't like it but I prefer my sex to be for fun, not for cash. By the end of a night of dancing I am so fucking blue balled it's not even funny..."
