i hear the chauffeur comin' to my door
Who: EVERYONE.
What: The Pax Halloween Party, part two.
Where: Pax Letale apartment complex, rec room.
When: 10 p.m., Oct. 31.
Notes: Welcome to the main event, boils and ghouls! Check out the below text for information on what's happening to your character, and all the tasty treats that you can write against within this thread. Some general notes: creatures in this thread are NPC-able, which means you can feel free to take one and run with it. Even though your characters are gods, these are creatures from their or a respective pantheon, so this should be a fairly equivalent fight; if you wanna rough your character up, how much damage they sustain is totally up to you. When creatures are defeated, they don't die—they just vanish in a puff of smoke. Everyone's endgame is to get out of the room; once they do, vessels will regain control of their bodies. Vessels can see what's happening, but deities will be in control until they are out of the room. Please remember to mark where you are, at what time, and ask permission before entering a thread that already contains two or more people. If you have any questions about anything happening in this thread, please contact the mods.

For three blessedly normal hours, nothing seems to happen. Tension in the room withers, allowing Pax tenants an evening of regular Halloween shenanigans; after all, on all days of the year, if something were to happen, it would be on this night—right?

And you'd be correct. At precisely the stroke of 10 p.m., a stranger enters the rec room, making their way through the small crowd gathered within. He is oddly large; almost seven feet tall, and broad, too. He wears a long, Dracula-ish cape that hides the majority of his form; a wolf mask covers his face, but the main item that draws the attention of onlookers is a large sack slung over one shoulder. If anything, he looks a bit like Krampus arrived a month too early, sans a birch switch.

All noise in the room quiets, and the man is left to reach the pool table without interruption. He turns, setting the sack down on one corner, and eyes the room.

"I do hope you've enjoyed your time here," he starts, his voice deep, a little melodic, but overall dangerous. He looks out over all of the party attendees, the smile on his face growing wider as he notices each mask that the guests are wearing. "I have so enjoyed having you—well, some more than others. For instance, Cristobal Rodriguez, you certainly could have been more help. Among everyone I've had working for me..." The man shakes his head, tsking with his tongue. "But it doesn't matter now. You've all been here so long in my apartment complex, I think a good number of you have some idea of what's going on.

"But before you get ahead of yourselves," he starts, holding up a hand toward any who might interrupt him, "I would like to lay down a forewarning. I do not tolerate trespassers lightly, and those who would try to strike out against me...well."

Giant, hairy hands reach out and upend the sack, dumping a beaten and unconscious Brittany Bernard face up onto the table. For those worried, she is still breathing, but bruises and what looks like bloodstains on her workout clothes speak to a long, violent story.

The man grins at the reactions in the room. "You're all here for a purpose, and you'll leave when I say you can. And, with that... I think it's time we all got to know each other a little better." He reaches into his cape and withdraws what looks like a small button. His grin shows teeth—sharp teeth, inhuman, wolfish teeth. With one sharp movement of his thumb, he holds the button down and everyone in the room wearing a mask, feels an electric shock of pain.

All party attendees buckle to the floor—when they rise, they are not themselves. Their inner deities have re-sculpted their exterior flesh, with the exception of their Halloween costumes. What's more, the room around them has changed.

The snack table is now half-sunk in a pool of quicksand, an out-of-place palm tree dipping just over the edge as it sticks out of the wall; the sand reaches as far as the doorway to the pool, which is now an arch supported by marble columns. Little spirits known as Tipua start to embody what's left of the food and drink, hurling them around and at anyone nearby. The now-marble pool area continues on the ground outside, becoming steps leading into an inky darkness. Those who venture close realize that the pool now seems to house arms and faces, though they are not recognizable; the hands reach out, seeking to grab any who venture too close. What's more is that a huge gashadokuro is bent down, peering through the doorway into the party itself as a large, bony hand wraps around one marble column.

The other side of the rec room is awash in snow wrapped up in giant, gnarled tree-roots; the snow has overtaken the doorway, sealing all inside (except for any intrepid souls who can dig their way out). Also standing in the way of escape are five ahuizotl, burrowing out of the ground to snarl at any who approach. Frost edges their fur, their muscles rippling as they begin to surround Pax guests. Sparks shower down over near the pool table, molten gold turning to flame that burns and melts the edge of the snowy landscape nearby. From this corner emerges a giant horned serpent, who hisses and makes its way toward the man who started this all.

He throws a hand in front of his face, snarling back at the huge reptile, before he is forced out into the pool area and past the gashadokuro. The rest of you are left to fend for yourselves, and find some manner of escape...

Instructions heard and heeded, Coyote nodded.

"It is the preferred method," he joked, unable to keep silent even in a moment like this. He fell to all fours and loped around the giant serpent, which was summarily distracted by both Raven's attack on its face and Maui's hook now embedded in its skin. It's head reared back, a hissing scream filling the room as saliva dripped from its impossibly long, dagger-like teeth. Coyote climbed up the coils of the snake like steps, the warm touch and ever-moving scales as muscles slid beneath him a cursory thought as he focused on his task.

He came behind the snake's head, hooking claws into the bottom half of the snake's jaw, nailing it open to its own neck.

"Being quick would be wonderful, friend," he called out to Maui as the snake began to try and buck him. "I haven't done something like this since Buffalo thought we'd have a contest, and I knew I had to prove him wrong—" The story he'd begun to recite was quickly cut off as the snake tried to buck him again, and he was forced to refocus his concentration.

Ares heard little of Coyote's story, distracted as he was by the serpent's flexing, twisting coils. The great snake thrashed about in pain and growing anger; its tail caught the pool table and shifted it on the floor, jostling Eris's vessel anew. Ares' fury reached new heights. As Raven dug her talons into the serpent's left eye Ares called his spear to him. He wrapped one blood-soaked hand around its shaft, hefted it high, and thrust it deep into the beast's pinned-open mouth. Raven darted up and away, now clutching a massive eyeball in her claws, screaming her victory to the highest heavens.

Ares felt his vessel growing weaker. There was no time left to lose, and Eris remained in danger. Molten gold lapped at the base of the pool table, eating away at its legs, tilting it until Eris risked falling off into the searing pool. Ares growled his frustration and leapt away from the serpent, leaving it to the other two gods. Only this mattered: Eris's body sliding slowly down the damaged felt, moving all too quickly toward oblivion. He turned his back on the serpent and bounded toward her, his arms outstretched to pull her to relative safety.

"Something tells me you won't allow anyone to claim something that isn't true," Maui responded to Coyote as he finally freed his hook from the serpent's side. "But lets not linger on stories of the past when we can focus on this!"

He looked up at Coyote with shining eyes and a wicked smile as he lifted his hook high above his head. "We're free, aren't we? It's taken long enough. Best to enjoy it." And with that, he swung the hook around and logged it into the underside of the snake's jaw. "That ought to do it!"

Coyote jumped back, freed from his assigned task of keeping the serpent's mouth open. He spied Ares grabbing the young woman off the table, and jumped down near to him, glancing in Maui's direction. He knew he need not look up to find Raven, able to hear her from even the furthest distance.

"I suppose we should find an exit, yes? It does look a little...I think the word is dicey," he quipped, looking over Ares' shoulders toward the exit and how its pathway was covered with ice and more dangerous things still.

"Does anyone have a thought on how we're doing this, or is it all just...have at?" He shrugged, as though the danger they were in was just another Tuesday.

"I'll carry her," Ares said. Eris nestled snug in his arms, held against his armor-plated chest. His spear was gone, returned to whatever liminal space it occupied when not in use. His sandaled feet were hardly the tool he would have chosen to dig his way free of a snowbank, but he saw no alternatives. He tipped his chin toward the snow crowding around the door. "Clear that," he said, even as he walked toward it himself.

Once in front of the little snowdrift, Ares found the places others had already passed through, and set to work kicking with one foot at its partially displaced wall. Raven wheeled overhead, dropping her pilfered eyeball onto the head of one of the tipua. With a joyous screech she descended on the snow a pace away from her friends. Hopping, she began clearing away small portions of snow with claws and beak and wings. Ares made a minimal effort to avoid her with his increasingly desperate kicks, but every movement he made sent snow flying in all directions.

"Stay with us," he demanded, pointedly refusing to look down to his unconscious sibling.

Maui withdrew his hook, or rather, the snake let go of it when it vanished into a poof of smoke. With a laugh, he rested the hook on his shoulder as he turned toward the mass of snow and his friends' desperate attempts to force their way through.

"Step back, step back, I've got this," Maui called as he approached them, waving a hand to urge them all away. He smiled at them and stretched his arms before lifting one bare foot, then the other, to place them both heavily on the ground. His steps seemed to rumble the very building they were in, building to a solid shake as it rolled to the pile of snow that quivered and twinkled with the room's light. Maui stomped again, his focus on the snow as the rumbling shook the very foundation and the snow began to fall apart, rolling down on itself and becoming snowballs and drifts that fell and spread across the floor all while making a large enough clearing in the doorway that Ares could easily move through it with Eris in his arms.

"Still got it," Maui sighed with self-satisfaction as he stepped out of the snow that now covered his feet.

"Very good, my friend!" Coyote said, coming close enough to Maui to clap the other deity on the back with a paw. It seemed things would be all well and good, until a growling sound rose from behind him—two ahuizotl, looking worse for the wear, were moving almost soundlessly through the snow toward them.

"Perhaps we should get going, then?" He stood his ground between the Hawaiian god and the other clutching the young woman in his arms. Claws unsheathed, he growled in warning at the approaching dog-like animals, who merely barked a challenge in return. Coyote crouched, gathering snow into his paws to quickly make a round ball of ice, and threw it at the first ahuizotl; startled, a pitched whine rang out.

"Through the door, then, Ares?" Coyote tried with a smile over one shoulder, before hurling another snowball at their antagonists.

Ares' gratitude showed on his face, though he voiced it with little more than a grunt as he took off through the opening Maui and Coyote had made. Raven darted up into the air just before the tip of Ares' sandal caught her in the beak. She flapped a bit, swearing raspily at his back. She came down on Coyote's shoulder, her talons curled tightly into his fur to secure her place there. Unfamiliar with the icy terrain, Ares slipped on a fallen sheet of ice; he pulled Eris more tightly against his chest to protect her from their inevitable fall. But by some miracle as they staggered through the doorway and out into the lobby he regained his footing, and in short order Daniel was blinking out at the sodden, blood-streaked mess that was the lobby.

He drew a deep and ragged breath. "Fuck," he mumbled. He squeezed BB, looking down at her, a deep furrow in his brow. The he noticed a second miracle: an ambulance already outside, its flashing lights piercing through to the interior of the building. Two appeared quite busy already. He yelled at another as she walked inside, carrying a sizable duffel bag.

"Hey! Hey, a little help!" Daniel turned briefly to Kal—pointedly ignoring Chris, at least for the moment—as he started over toward the paramedic, intent upon meeting her halfway. "Thanks," he mumbled, then quickened his steps toward their approaching angel.

Maui was happily following everyone out of the door and into the lobby when suddenly he was thrust aside and forced to watch everything again. Kal stumbled, blinking at the flashing lights of the ambulance outside and took the briefest pause in his movement as he realized he was in control of his body once more, the tattoos that had covered his skin had faded, he had shrunk in size, but his hair was still loose and wild and his outfit still on.

"Holy shit," He murmured as he realized the same could be said for each of them and by the noise behind them, the room still was hosting the chaos they had been a part of. Looking from Daniel and BB backward, he spotted June and Chris and immediately felt a rush of anger toward his eldest friend that was pushed aside only temporarily when he saw they both stood naked and Chris without his cane. "Fucking hell," he murmured, realizing that was a situation he would have to deal with now rather than what he truly wanted to deal with at that moment.

Coyote threw one last snowball at the ahuizotl, grinning widely when his aim was rewarded with a loud yelp; then he tumbled after his friends, Chris immediately appearing on the other side of the doorway. What was more, he was naked. Hands went to his crotch, and he leaned heavily against the wall as support for his once-again bad leg. Whatever was coming was momentarily paused due to BB's injuries; Chris sighed, trying to mentally prepare himself. He was glad, at least, that no confrontation would come merely due to his current situation.

"Sooo... Can someone get me some pants?" He tried, smiling vaguely, wondering just how bad things were going to get.
