Isobel shook her head, grinning all the while, as she gently slapped his forearm.
"Because you dress like that everyday," she replied. "The whole point of Halloween is to be something else; get to pretend for a day.
"You can pick the costumes next year," she added, like some sort of consolation prize. The words came out of her mouth without a second thought, though their weight became immediately apparent and she felt herself smiling at the simple thought that there would be a next year. Her hands came away from his, undoing her mask enough to push it up halfway onto her wig.
"I'm still wearing it, technically," she offered to skirt any reprimand, reaching back out for his arm. "I don't know why they'd hand out masks that cover our whole faces and then put out food... It's almost cruel."
