Who: Sheila and Simon
What: Happy times!
Where: Lobby then the parks :D
When: Friday afternoon
Warnings: Not likely.

Despite what people might have believed, Sheila wasn’t excited to taking Simon-Scrooge-Grumpy-Gills to the parks. She looked forward to it, true, but she’s wasn’t ecstatic over the thought. The offer had initially been made as a way to make nice with a neighbor in the building – one she meant, but she hadn’t done it to annoy either. If every time she could go in the park, she could bring three people with her, why shouldn’t she take someone from her building? When it became a game over lightening up, it had become a challenge she wouldn’t back down from.

She had faith in Disney and faith in the simple fact that people needed to let go of their problems. People who let themselves get caught up in them would only get consumed by the angst. It wasn’t pleasant – and as a result, she encouraged others to move on.

At the appointed time, she waited in the lobby. She’d put on a tunic and a pair of brown leggings, a satchel over her shoulder with the passes and her trusty water bottle, as well as a sweater for later. (The switching between heat and air conditioning was enough to mess up anyone’s temperature.) She remained perched on the desk for whoever-it-was-who-ran-the-building, legs swinging idly as she waited for Simon to show. It crossed her mind that perhaps, she should have asked what he looked like, but shrugged it off. Que sera, sera – there wasn’t any reason to worry.

It was shortly after the appointed time for their meeting when Simon finally made his way down the stairs. He was dressed simply; a pair of faded, well-worn jeans with holes starting around the knees, and a grey t-shirt with a faded logo of some sort across the chest. Per Sheila's instructions, he had worn a pair of sneakers and had a Nalgene bottle dangling from his fingers. He paused, standing in the lobby and looking around, everything about him still other than his eyes, that is, until he caught sight of a girl perched on the counter, and it was then that he realised he didn't even know her name.

Pushing his hand back through his hair to get it out of his eyes, he made his way over towards her, hand shoved in his pocket. "You the one taking me to the land of fun?" he asked, a faint amount of amusement in his voice.

Sheila looked up when Simon walked in, eyes going over him for a moment, before her grin spread. Not quite what she expected - she'd pictured someone a little older, perhaps in their late twenties. And possibly less attractive. The thought was banished a moment later, before she bounced to her feet.

"Sheila in 301," she confirmed, putting her hand out to his. Clasping it in a warm handshake, she pumped it once, before pulling him towards the front doors. "Rhyming is intentional-" It hadn't been but it was a good enough lie. "You fine with riding in my truck?"

"Good to meet you," he said easily at her words, though a brow arched at the add-on to her greeting, wondering exactly what this girl was on. "I'm fine with any vehicle. I don't have one of my own, so I usually hoof it or rely on public transport." Shoulders shrugged and he slipped his hands back into his pockets, glancing over her shoulder before inclining his head towards the exit. "Shall we?" A man of few words? Oh, most definitely.

She took her hand back, shouldering her bag. "Let's." Fine, if he wasn't going to say much then she'd do all the talking. Once they were in her truck.

For once, she didn't skip out - she walked with a straight back towards a red truck parked in front of the building. She swung into the driver's seat, fastening her seat-belt with a happy click. Waiting for him to get in, Sheila started the car and turned on her CD player. A classic came on and she hummed along, until Simon got in.

Simon followed along behind her, a brow arching before he hopped into the truck alongside her, taking a moment to fasten his seatbelt. It was only after he had settled in and started to pay attention to the radio that he turned to look at Sheila with a look that said "seriously?".

Fingers came up to massage at his temples for a brief moment before he pressed himself back into the seat, looking straight ahead with a tight smile on his lips. "Alright. Mary Poppins. Great."

Sheila pulled out immediately, hitting the highway to head towards Disney. "Why? Got a problem with it?" Her tone was teasing, though she leaned forward to lower the volume until the music only played softly.

She was a good driver, surprisingly aware of detail as she moved. There was a calm expression on her face, until there were specific signs to the park. Nearly there. "Did you have a preference over the two parks?"

"It's just so..." Simon shook his head, putting his hands back in his lap for the remainder of the ride. "Cheerful. Too... nice." He gave a nervous laugh and looked over towards her as she drove, settling into a certain quiet as they approached the park.

When a question of preference was raised, Simon lifted a brow, completely unsure as to how to answer that. "Do you like one over the other? I really... I really don't know what would be more fun."

"Is there really such a thing?" Sheila asked, genuinely. "Cheerful that is - nice can be an issue. Some people could be taken advantage of." Her tone clearly said that she wasn't one of them. "Cheerfulness or being happy never hurt anyone though. It's a safe option."

She shook her head, eyes ahead on the road. "They've got different things - Disneyland is the classic though. California Adventure has some bigger thrills." Once they were parked, she turned to him, smile teasing slightly. "Both have their good parts though. I couldn't pick between the two."

Hopping out of the car, she motioned for him to follow her through the parking lot. She shouldered her bag, before walking with a slight bounce in her steps. It was hard not to feel good this close to the parks.
