"I don't think Casper had it as good as I did. His family, his adoptive family, seemed nice enough," she admitted, "but he's so insecure." She took a deep breath, trying to figure out how to explain differences she hadn't found words for yet. "I was raised by a very loud, very nurturing amazing family. I was always different." She grinned. "I'm a strange freak, in case you hadn't noticed. Instead of making that a bad thing, they ruffled my hair and hugged me and loved me because of it. I didn't fit in, and they weren't like me, but we all loved each other anyway. I don't think Simon had that. He's insecure, and he takes everything as a personal slight. He's like a Vulcan when something goes wrong and their emotions are all over the place."
She shrugged. "I think he needs to ask them why, Pierce. I don't think it has anything to do with maturity. I don't feel like I need to ask, because they found a fantastic family for me, whatever the reason."
