Notes: Welcome to another game event thread! The same rules apply as before; please mark where your character can be found in the event location (i.e., by the bar, seated in the lounge, on the dance floor). If possible, please use a time stamp so we can keep track of everyone. If you have a specific person coming into your thread, please mark the thread with their name (i.e., by the bar, 7:30 pm - daniel), otherwise please indicate that you're 'open'. If a thread is already occupied, please talk with the players before jumping in. Any questions, please contact the mods!

The only acquiescence to the theme that had been supplied by the location selected for the latest Pax event was Flogging Molly blaring from the jukebox crammed so close to the bathroom that men and women alike had to slide their asses over its front, glass-encased menu to pee in privacy. The rest of the bar had been left untouched; the money covering every grimey inch a reminder of all the hard work put into the small bar that kept it alive.

Extra liquor was provided by the complex, entirely unnecessary and yet done regardless. Food was likewise on hand, this time the Pax management sending over their particular cook to create a plethora of holiday-themed foods: bite-sized servings of Irish stew on kabobs, shepherd's pie in small cups complete with edible potato spoons, Irish soda bread, chocolate stout cupcakes, and scones just a small sampling of the menu on hand. The bar's owner had provided her own take on the holiday's culinary offerings with gummy shamrocks soaked in vodka.

Staff was left entirely up to the location's owner, though carefully vetted by Pax management. It seemed all was well in hand by the time the first tenants decided to arrive.

He smiled widely, noting her enthusiasm instantly. "I do," he said, "I think Italian is my specialty, but I do make a mean curry," he said with a wink. "I'm more of a 'stick to the recipe' kind of guy, with a few adjustments, but maybe I should branch out a bit, do what you do. It sounds fun."

"Can't go wrong with Italian," she said. "There are some great farmer's markets here for finding in-season ingredients you didn't even know existed. Are you from the area?"

He shook his head, "no, I'm from up north; Oregon," he clarified, "though farmers markets sound great...nice fresh local produce is always a plus," he said, nodding in approval. "What about you? Are you a native Californian? Is that even a word?" he joked with a little laugh after stumbling over the syllables.

"Born and bred," Kate replied, taking another sip of beer before picking up the cupcake on her plate. "All of my family is here, so I haven't had much need to travel. It's kept me happy." For the most part, she thought, remembering Argentina and how much fun she had with Emilia. She bit into the cupcake. "Mmmm." Mouth full, she gestured between Lucas and the cupcake platter, trying to recommend he try one.

Lucas took the hint, picking up a cupcake and setting it on his plate. He was suddenly distracted by her face, or rather, something in her expression just then that piqued his interest. There was a wistfulness about her that was about as clear to him as if she'd spoken of it it aloud. Nostalgia maybe, or homesickness.

He pushed the thought aside and took a bite of the cupcake, groaning softly when his mouth was filled with chocolate. "These are amazing," he said once hedid swallowed. "I wonder if they'll let us take leftovers home," he said with a little wink.

Kate chuckled, not all that opposed to leftovers but thinking it unlikely to happen. "Once everyone gets well into drinking for the evening, the food will probably disappear pretty quickly."

She tossed her now empty plate into a nearby trash can and took a sip of beer, accentuating her point. Having fortified herself with food, she took up a small handful of vodka shamrocks, popped them into her mouth, and winced. "That's all I'll need of those," she said, shuddering slightly.

Lucas laughed at her reaction to the gummy candies. "You gotta pace yourself with those," he teased, taking a drink of his own beer. "They're like jello shots, you can easily over-indulge when the sugar masks the alcohol." He finished the last bite of his food and tossed out the plate as well, checking his watch. "Well, I have an early day tomorrow," he said cordially, "It was nice to meet you, Kate."
