Carfax Abbey was a recent arrival in the neighborhood, but Adam recognized it from the street. His co-workers had already responded to at least two calls issuing from the club; though only the barest details and description had been forthcoming, the place was already establishing itself as a potential hotbed of activity, not all of it good. That did little to keep Adam away, though, particularly given the bill for the evening. It was a respectable early lineup for any potential haunt of his, and reason enough to break out top hat and tuxedo coat and try a thick new eyeliner, black as sin. He felt comfortable in this unlikely ensemble, as if he had slipped back in to his own, real skin and shed something less honest in the process. As they slipped through the doors there was a lightness in his step that had not been there before, a sort of languid confidence he rarely wore in daylight hours. Here he was among kindred spirits, their fishnets, corsets, electrical tape and RAF goggles thoroughly separating them from the mundane patrons come for the alcohol alone.
Neither band had taken the stage, but the house DJ was already putting every effort into filling the room with heavy bass and screaming industrial samples. "Seats first," he said, leaning down, his lips pressed to Alex's upturned ear. "Close as we can. Drinks after. Okay?"
Alexandria nodded, staying close to Adam, though she was keeping an eye out for Momoko. For her part, she hadn't been out and about in too long - she couldn't quite remember when the last time was - and she'd been enthusiastic about the idea of getting a bit dressed up. As it was, her hair was twisted up into thick-coiled buns high on her head, her eyes swathed in thick, dark makeup and purple metallic false eyelashes, with red, red lips contrasting her pale, pale skin. Her corset was also purple, and complemented her black tulle skirt, which was nicely complemented by her purple fingerless opera gloves. A number of silver necklaces adorned her throat, and silver buckles adorned the knee-high platform boots she wore from the ankle up. It was a departure from her usual, quite respectable, daily office wear, and though she could add her own personal touches a little more freely at the university, it was only nights like these when she could really go all out.
Once they found a suitable spot, right up close to the stage (thanks to Alexandria winding through the crowd rather expertly), she said, "All right, who's going for drinks?"
