Who: Adam, Alex, Mo, and OPEN.
What: Pax party at the club. Porcelain & The Tramps opening for Soho Dolls. Also, free booze til midnight!
Where: Carfax Abbey.
When: 10 p.m. until.
Warnings: Likely MA:LSV. Go nuts, kids.
Notes: Party post! You know the drill.

Carfax Abbey was a recent arrival in the neighborhood, but Adam recognized it from the street. His co-workers had already responded to at least two calls issuing from the club; though only the barest details and description had been forthcoming, the place was already establishing itself as a potential hotbed of activity, not all of it good. That did little to keep Adam away, though, particularly given the bill for the evening. It was a respectable early lineup for any potential haunt of his, and reason enough to break out top hat and tuxedo coat and try a thick new eyeliner, black as sin. He felt comfortable in this unlikely ensemble, as if he had slipped back in to his own, real skin and shed something less honest in the process. As they slipped through the doors there was a lightness in his step that had not been there before, a sort of languid confidence he rarely wore in daylight hours. Here he was among kindred spirits, their fishnets, corsets, electrical tape and RAF goggles thoroughly separating them from the mundane patrons come for the alcohol alone.

Neither band had taken the stage, but the house DJ was already putting every effort into filling the room with heavy bass and screaming industrial samples. "Seats first," he said, leaning down, his lips pressed to Alex's upturned ear. "Close as we can. Drinks after. Okay?"

Alexandria nodded, staying close to Adam, though she was keeping an eye out for Momoko. For her part, she hadn't been out and about in too long - she couldn't quite remember when the last time was - and she'd been enthusiastic about the idea of getting a bit dressed up. As it was, her hair was twisted up into thick-coiled buns high on her head, her eyes swathed in thick, dark makeup and purple metallic false eyelashes, with red, red lips contrasting her pale, pale skin. Her corset was also purple, and complemented her black tulle skirt, which was nicely complemented by her purple fingerless opera gloves. A number of silver necklaces adorned her throat, and silver buckles adorned the knee-high platform boots she wore from the ankle up. It was a departure from her usual, quite respectable, daily office wear, and though she could add her own personal touches a little more freely at the university, it was only nights like these when she could really go all out.

Once they found a suitable spot, right up close to the stage (thanks to Alexandria winding through the crowd rather expertly), she said, "All right, who's going for drinks?"

Simon's idea to call a cab had been a wise one - Samuel was sure of this from his first steps into the nightclub. The sheer amount and variation of skin scandalously attired or unabashedly bared was intoxicating on its own. The promise of free liquor for nearly two hours was icing on an already lovely cake. "I don't know about you," he said, casting a long and satisfied glance around the room, "but the music is a small price to pay for this view."

He lingered by the door, though whether he was waiting for his newfound acquaintance's response or simply sketching out a game plan was unclear. He had made no effort to dress according to the code of the apparent regulars, having hastily chosen a flatteringly fitted black tee shirt and dark denim jeans. Still, he did not stand out, exactly, as the lure of an open bar appeared to have drawn a number of atypical patrons. "Alright, Simon," he said, tipping his head toward the bar. "Might as well get a few drinks while the Hot Topic kids are angling for the best seats. You game?" In a moment he was cutting a path through the crowd, leading Simon on as he shouldered the milling clubgoers aside.

Simon was only a few steps behind him as they entered the club, a brow arching at the sound of the music that hung in the air. No, not exactly his taste in music, but he could survive. Glancing to the side at the sound of Samuel's voice, Simon couldn't help but let out a low laugh, making an affirmative sound in answer. "Or something like that," he said lightly, hands shoved in the pockets of the dark denim pants he had donned, dressed similarly to Samuel but with the addition of a dark blazer. It was likely a bit too clean cut for the atmosphere, but really, how did anyone stand buckling so many buckles and applying makeup? He didn't have the energy or money to do that.

"Let them have the best seats, I'll settle for a drink or two." So he was close on Samuel's heels as the other led the way through the club, angling his body this way and that to make it through the space left in the other man's wake.

Wow. WTF? A place like this was down the street? And what kinda place was this exactly? How did these people know how vampires and Victorian outcasts, opium renegades, absinthe chasers and witch hunters dressed in the Big Bang Wish I Was There Era? As he googled this interesting fascination of fashion on his iPhone he came upon a picture of some hypnotically creamy white brunette in a lace-back corset, hah, he thought to himself, no one here's gunna look like that. And then, like a fallen absinthe chasing, witch hunting, opium renegading Victorian outcast, his vampiric mind's eye's love toy just so happened to resemble the bartender.

... score.

Vince strode through toward the bar as if he owned the entire building, slapped the bar top and announced. "Hello, boys!" to the two men already seated there. "Time to make them regret giving out free drinks? Oh yes. I think so." he pretended to talk into the collar of his white, crisp dress shirt. "Yes, drink until you can't feel feelings anymore, copy that."

Samuel's brow quirked a high arch, his eyes cutting over to the enthusiastic newcomer. If nothing else, the man looked apt to provide a few minutes' entertainment, and his plan for the evening appeared to mesh quite well with Samuel's own. As the bartender slid his drink to him - a fine reserve whiskey, neat, and generously poured - he raised his glass in mock toast. The niggling sense of familiarity he felt he chalked up to the event itself; like as not he was another Pax resident, someone Samuel had bumped into countless times while checking the mail or holding the elevator doors. Surely there was no more to it than that. As if to convince himself further, or perhaps to dismiss the sensation entirely, he uncharacteristically initiated introductions.

"Sergeant Samuel Wolfe," he said, flashing a brief, bright grin. "Pleasure to meet you. And since I'm off duty I have every intention of carrying out that particular order. Simon here was even smart enough to mention getting a cab, before I walked out the door keys in hand."

Paul hadn't been to a place like this in quite some time. He was more outgoing in college, attending numerous parties and even hosting them, but lately he had been more of a shut-in. And had been content to be accompanied by The Discovery Channel on Saturday nights.

But in all actuality, he was kind of tired of that. So now was the perfect opportunity to get out and socialize a bit. He didn't want anything ridiculous to happen. He just wanted to drink and hang out with people from the building - and he wanted to see Cassie again, of course. Their date had went so well earlier that day.

Paul recognized everyone at the bar, surprisingly, so he headed over there to see if they had room for one more. "Evening, fellows," he said, smiling at them all as he slid in next to Vince and ordered a gin and tonic. Liquor before beer, you're in the clear! Or something. That was probably a load of horseshit. "Drink until you can't feel feelings anymore? Wow, that's deep."

Someone hadn't murmured their devotional, wide and watery-eyed prayers to the gloomy side of the moon and the graces of the kami if this one was able to campaign with an isolated dangle, undetected and prying, out of the prison building she lived in and swing down the street from a hopeless hook. The velvet shadow didn't listen to the music that was going to be playing, nor did she like in particular the humid company of many bodies in one place, voices, vices, and opportunities for the trouble that, like a whistling of death and a spindle-story of secret sonatas, followed her around like a maniacal admirer. When she thought about it, the trouble lately wasn't half as bad as the kind she'd had her claws in as a kid...

Maybe it wasn't all that bad, then.

Although not managing to put much effort into what she wore, there was an old forgotten pink dress that she'd lucked upon years ago in a thrift store that more than suited the occasion. It also gave her a reason to try to behave. A strange result of the innocent hue of the dress was that it made the looks she threw shatter less dirtily, her eyes appear minimally dead and sinful, her mouth seem unforgivably harmless...

Cat-lined and shimmer-soiled, the marionettes made-up vivid eyes arrowed straight for her friend instantly, and pushing through tall crannies and steam punk nooks, she made it there without having to kill anyone for touching her. Tossing Adam a look; that was Adam, right? she spoke, "You look beautiful." in a raised voice by Dria's ear to drop her a compliement as a hello. Right as the drinks were mentioned.

"I'll help get them." stringed in the lush.

Adam nodded, looking up to their new arrival. Introductions of a sort had been made earlier via text, and for the moment, at least, it seemed no further greeting would be necessary. He leaned down to Alex, needlessly confirming her drink preferences. A quick glance to the bar turned up a single, narrow empty space; it was to this opening Adam turned his steps, gesturing for Momoko to follow behind. The press of people was close, but he slipped through them all the same, a small path opening the farther away they moved from the stage.

"Good to meet you," he said at last, glancing down to his companion as they reached the crowded, liquor-smeared bar. He was careful not to brush too close, fearful of the damage it might cause to his impeccably cared-for attire. "Thanks for the help."

Ordering proved a largely painless affair. The harried bartenders flitted from one patron to the next as their own whims demanded; soon enough one slight young woman took notice of the pair at the end of the bar. She took their orders and attended to them quickly enough, and soon they were winding their way back to their table, and to the thumping bass beyond.

A nod of her chin was slung dancingly at Adam's introduction, a miniature smile. It was cordial and not plastered, genuine. She just wasn't too talkative yet. The phantasm seemed always on high alert, but her company would soothe that, she was certain.

"Tequila." requested the lace puppet to the bartender. Mo wasn't in the mood to make this dance a slow one. She wanted the hardest, fastest ticket to oblivion possible. One shot was taken at the actual bar itself, burning and heavily slithering down her throat, and she almost screamed it felt so nice; instead she girlishly squealed. Smile number two given to Adam was much broader after that.

The rest of the remaining drinks that Adam couldn't grab, she wired in her loops. They put down in the center of their table. Before she could further say hello to Dria, some guy thought it'd be a good idea to compliment sin's hair by touching it... to which she responded by spitting her gum at his chest, as if it were an appropriate reward for his 'kindness.' He walked off with a scowl.

A "Sorry." was aimed at Dria and Adam. "Automatic."

Alexandria smiled at Mo and whispered a returned compliment that likely got lost in the bass. While she waited for her and Adam to return with drinks, she swayed to the background music that was playing while the crowd waited for the band. It was a favorite of hers, and she couldn't help the half-smile it evoked. The smile seemed to earn the attention of one of the concert goers, who came over with a little bit of a leer, trying to have a conversation with her cleavage (not usually a problem for her, but it was a good corset). She shut down then, crossing her arms under her chest, shifting away from him, and mumbling one word answers until Adam and Mo came into view, who seemed to discourage him enough at least to step away.

Relieved at their return, she smiled at them until she saw Mo spit her gum at some guy, and her eyes widened before she shook her head, smirking.

"No need to apologize," she said. "The natives are restless tonight. Open bar's brought in sort of a douche factor, it seems." She frowned in the direction of where her harasser had gone. "How's the bar?" she asked.

"Packed," Adam said, glancing over his shoulder at her retreating suitor. He noted Mo's method of dissuading undesirables from edging too close, wondering if it might prove useful - though still remarkably off-putting - as the night wore on. He leaned down to the table, sliding the glasses he'd procured across its already scarred and worn surface. With a frown and a scathing look of his own he managed to coax another patron into removing their foot from the chair he had claimed; he pulled it close beneath their table, perching himself at the edge of the seat. "Sorry to keep you waiting."

He sipped idly at his own ice water as he looked around the crowd, attempting to guess at how the show itself might go. The better part of the patrons seemed already into the music, and if there were a few small clusters of the aforementioned douches, they seemed easily enough to avoid. Adam recognized a few from his short time at Pax, and wondered if Naea had decided to turn up after all. "Anyone else you two are keeping an eye out for?" he asked. "We really don't have room up here, I guess, but if you want to say hi to someone I can watch the table."

Now, Lukas wasn’t a selective, or even particularly well-groomed man by any means of measure.. but he wouldn’t have been buried in half the ensembles he saw loitering at the club’s entrance. Was that actually a fucking codpiece? Disturbed, and a little shaken in his grubby Converses, Lukas ground his cigarette out on the hood of a waiting taxi before heading for the door. With hands wedged into pockets after getting the stamp of approval from the bouncer checking IDs, he looked a little out of place. No, more than a little. While he at least managed to trade in his grease-stained bluejeans for a pair of dark slacks, he was still wearing the height of middle school punk fashion in those black, canvas kicks. He was working the modern mime look, with his striped shirt -- which was also miraculously free of tears or stains. If you’re sensing a theme here, forget it -- he still looked like he hadn’t shaved in a full week.

This was not Lukas’ kind of place. He didn’t do concerts or music, for the obvious reasons, and aside from that it was dark and crowded. But free drinks until midnight? Not even a shut-in like himself could deny that cat call.

She had been busy all day, but the night was still young. Her date with Paul had gone well, better than well actually, once they got over the initial nervousness. Cassie simply blamed the weather for that; the waves had been really choppy out of nowhere in the beginning. But once they waters calmed, so did Paul - or was it the other way around? Either way, after everything settled their day out on his boat had gone great. She had debated asking him to come out with her, but she figured she shouldn't press her luck. They worked together and lived in the same building. She wasn't about to scare him off and ask him to go out with her all the time.

So when she was reminded that there was a club nearby, she figured she'd give it a shot. She hadn't gone around the area nearly enough to be acquainted with her new city. Besides, the flier had been in her mailbox. She might as well see try to get to know her neighbors. When she entered the club she was dressed in pair of jeans, a simple and skimpy black top, a high pair of heels, and her blonde hair held loose in a low ponytail, still letting it tumble over her shoulder in waves. She paused to take in the music and the dancing and she would be enjoying it soon enough. It was obvious this wasn't quite her scene but she didn't look completely out of place - or maybe it was simply that she didn't look like she cared what anyone else thought of her.

She was about to head to the bar when she was shoulder checked by a scowling brunette, making her way past. The movement spun her around, making her bump into a blonde man with a striped shirt, just as he was coming in through the door. Cass glared at the other girl, towering above her in her heels, and muttered a few choice curses as she stomped away. She turned to the man she bumped into and gave him an embarrassed grin. "Sorry about that," she said, trying not to yell but the music made it difficult.

Considering certain handicaps, Lukas was often more observant than most. It was crucial for him to take register and catalog every detail. The darkness didn't help, and the drunken gyrations of the crowd were difficult to anticipate. He was beginning to remember why he didn't frequent popular clubs.

His phone vibrated with a message, and that was adequate distraction for the tangle that soon followed. Lukas was just glancing up toward the bar, noting one familiar bastard that always had him simultaneously smirking and shaking his head, when the bump caught him square in the chest. Backpedaling an awkward step, Lukas knocked into someone else who spilled their drink down his side. It was cold as ice and already sticky with sugar; SONOFABITCH. Eventually righting himself in the chaos, he noticed that the blonde woman was smiling apologetic. He could tell with the tension in her eyes that she was shouting the words he read on her lips.

"It's alright," he mouthed, inferring that it was difficult for anyone to hear in these surroundings, and he swiped some of a spilled Appletini off of his shirt.

She saw his lips move but she didn’t hear him, but she figured it was the usual combo of a soft voice and a loud setting. Her smile remained as sheepish as ever, although she winced as he started to wipe off his shirt. Even with his reassurances, she felt bad. Just a few steps into the club and already he was wearing drinks instead of downing them.

“Get you a drink?” Cassie offered, gesturing to the bar behind her. She hadn’t checked it out to see who was sitting there yet, just knew where it was from a quick glance around. “I’d buy but they’re free tonight.”

After arguing with the bouncer at the door about whether or not her driver's license was legit, Naea finally managed to get through the door with that nifty day-glo green wristband that screamed just how not 21 she was. And anyway, if she really wanted to drink that much, she would have asked David to pick up some wine for dinner.

She'd told David she would be checking out the place for shits and giggles and extended the offer for him to come on down if he felt inclined to do so. Naea wanted the break from the apartment, from school, from work. A change in scenery from the same twelve walls. And what a change it was. Industrial, steam punk, alternakid... pick your flavor, it was here. She began to wonder if she shouldn't have dug out her old Halloween costume when she went as a porcelain doll. The rose pink and white thigh highs would have blended in far better than her black tank with the Rolling Stones logo outlined in red glitter on the front and a pair of flared blue jeans. At least she chose wisely in her footwear of black and white lo-top Converse.

Naea sidled up to the bar and ordered a Coke. While she waited, she looked around the growing crowd and sought out anyone she knew--specifically Adam, who'd brought it up once they figured out they lived in the same building. To some extent, she felt guilty for going on ahead without David. It seemed lately like they never really had a chance to go out to do something--just the two of them. Maybe once they got a little more settled...

Brighid's international ID had garnered almost as much attention as her outfit: a blue-green-black pleated plaid skirt that looked amazingly like part of her school uniform - minus several inches - and a white top with spaghetti straps, along with a pristine pair of low black Chuck Taylor All Stars. A helpful soul in line had tried to convince the bouncer to let her by without a wristband since she was old enough to drink in her own country, but the large man had replied that if she wanted a drink so bad, she could go back to her own country to get it. He'd then smiled at Brighid and murmured, "No offense, sweetheart. Just doing my job." Brighid had smiled back warmly and nodded. "Sure I understand. No worries a'tall."

Once through the door, she moved to a spot near a wall to survey her options. The music was already loud and people were starting to crowd the stage area, so she decided to try the bar first. She thought she caught a glimpse of Samuel, but there were several men near him with whom he seemed to be conversing, so she passed him by, planning to say hello later. She ended up standing next to another girl at the bar with a bright wristband. After ordering a drink, remembering the bartender likely wouldn't understand if she asked for a fizzie, Brighid turned to her neighbor. She thought she might have seen something from the other girl on the building's forum, but couldn't remember her name for sure, so she decided on a different opening gambit.

"D'ya think the drinks are free for us, too, then, or just the 'grown ups'?"

A brogue over the music gave Linnaea pause in her thoughts of David and the search for Adam for the moment. She chuckled at the gal's question and shrugged. "It's a helluva lot cheaper to give us free drinks than the boozers around here. I can't imagine why they wouldn't. Better than sitting at the kiddie table, I suppose." She looks the Irish girl over briefly, noting that she thought she'd passed her perhaps once in the lobby at the apartment building. The forum worked nicely to get to know your neighbors, but getting them into a social situation could be very hit or miss.

Naea, highly amused at their matching footwear, holds out and points at her own foot. "Nice shoes," comes out in a yell and partnered with a grin over the thumping music. "I'm Linnaea!"

"Brilliant," Brighid agreed with a nod and a smile. "I'm Brighid. Oh, thanks," she offered the bartender as he handed her a lemon-lime soda with cherry syrup. After a sip, she smiled her appreciation to him. "That's brilliant as well." Another perusal of the club showed more people she thought she recognized from the building, none of whom Brighid could name. Finally, she returned her attention to Linnaea.

"I was afraid I might be the only one from Pax not old enough for a pint. Well, not old enough here."

Lia entered the club fashionably late, as could have been predicted, and was dressed appropriately for the venue. A white corset, white PVC leggings, and white Louboutin stiletto sandals with a great many buckles, her hair pulled back, dark eye makeup swathed around her eyes, and crimson lipstick with her hair up allowed her to stand out without looking out of touch. She looked around the room, taking in her surroundings, assessing the crowd, and enjoying the view. She fingered the white choker at her throat, smiling slightly at the internal rhythm that seemed to be developing tonight, and, still looking around, she began to make her way deeper into the club.

Samuel had been more than happy to take his leave from the bar, the conversation having descended into a sort of roundabout, pleasant but essentially meaningless bromancey chatter. He said his goodbyes as quickly as he could manage, descending from the high barstool with scandalously tall highball glass in hand, a single ice cube cooling a substantial measure of whiskey. No sooner had he turned to peruse the crowd for new blood than he saw her, striding into the door scandalously attired and astonishingly alone. It took him a moment to reach her, weaving and occasionally shoving through the crowd as he was, but when he did he wore a smile so boyishly bright it was as if their last meeting had never occurred.

"Imagine seeing you here," he said, beaming all the brighter as he cast an eye over her clothing - if it could indeed be called that. He gestured vaguely toward her. "Do you get a tax writeoff for that?"

She almost didn't see him coming, he moved so quickly, but Samuel Wolfe was a hard man to miss. Almost before she knew it, he was upon her, and half-remembered dreams suddenly became a thousand times clearer in his direct physical presence. Another girl might have blushed - and maybe there was a faint tinge of pink to her cheeks, but it was thankfully invisible in the dim light of the club. After their last conversation, and her extremely vivid and intimately detailed dream of them/not them, Lia wasn't quite sure how to approach him, so she offered him a somewhat more reserved smile and said,

"I'm afraid not. Though I could probably make a good argument for field research if I were an academic, I'm not on the clock right now. How are you, Samuel?"

"I'm great." His thoughts ran a moment behind hers, blurred as they were by the respectable quantity of whiskey he had already put back. His careful perusal of her chosen attire stirred his memory; each line of flawlessly fitted material clung to the curves he had seen bared in his dream, alternately concealing and revealing what his hands - and somehow not his, he thought, immediately dismissing the thought - had touched. He shifted his weight, one foot to the other, recalling too strongly the flood of sensation that had come with that dream. Would that it had been a mere sex dream, uncomplicated and familiar; perhaps then Samuel would not feel this sudden, strange awkwardness. Between the drink and his own sense of being thoroughly thrown, it took him a moment to regain his composure. He filled the silence between them with a long pull from his glass, grateful for the garish lighting and pounding music to make the sudden void in conversation somewhat less obvious.

He managed a smirk as he lowered the glass from his lips, turning to humor to dig him out of this hole. "In the interests of keeping things civil, I won't ask who helped get you into all that."
