Events unfolded like time-lapse photography, petals of a bud blooming without due warning. Mo struck the man again, and screamed; the sound had her reaching out to her friend, though Adam held her back just in time as a really large man came through and just - Alexandria couldn't tell how it happened, missed something in the light or the dark. There were loud sounds even over the music, maybe, and then someone's head pressed to the table, but none of theirs, and she huddled closer to Adam, peering out at Mo, her heart beating too, too fast for what she'd like, her emotions confused, overwhelming, and trying not to look at the big man who didn't want to have to work tonight.
"Mo," she whispered, but the soft sound was lost between the music and the crowd. "Mo," she called more loudly, reaching out a hand to her, though she stayed safely at Adam's side.
