It all happened so quickly, Alexandria couldn't quite keep track. Suddenly, Mo had slapped the person holding her; the friend of the person's eyes widened and decided to back away, because he was gone now; Mo's slap had loosened the guy's grip on her and now Adam was holding her, she stood close to him, and she watched Mo, everything seeming to happen just a few seconds before she had the chance to react to the last thing.
One might think Alexandria's "suitor" might see that his friend had abandoned him, that he was outnumbered, that there was no way to win a fight with a girl, especially a girl Mo's size. And if he'd been in any way sober, maybe he would have. But sobriety was not on the menu tonight, and neither was good sense - so instead of accepting defeat and walking away gracefully, he took a clumsy, uncoordinated swing at Mo, throwing his weight behind it, but missing the mark.
