Without thinking, she returned that smile, faint as his. She didn't allow herself to linger; she took another step away and gave him a little salute. "You too, Sam," she said, something perhaps more tender than cheeky in the nickname. "I'll see you around."
And with that, she left - she'd meant to do the rounds, to say hello. But there was nothing for the rest of this night - she'd be tasting that kiss for hours, and the only thing to do now was to walk away, go home, and spend a restless night half-hoping she wouldn't dream, and half hoping she would.
