[Emma had opened her mouth to protest being told to wait, but she did as she was told, settling back on the cushions she had curled up on the floor, the phone cradled to her ear. She had to smile at the sound of the crashes, but the moment that music, that familiar, haunting music sounded, brown eyes went wide, impossibly so. She leaned back, head against the wall, and simply listened... Remembered.]

[even after Mo speaks, there's no answer from the other end for the longest time, picking up where the song leaves off, humming it quietly to herself. Several minutes later, she finally realises that she's been humming to herself, and there's a little laugh, self-conscious and light]

I'm sorry. I think I missed what you said. It's just been a long time since I've heard the koto. It reminded me of someone I knew.
