Well, alright, so I've got to admit I haven't a clue what you lot are talking about most of the time but I at least get the point that I've moved into some kind of alternate dimension. One where the lift malfunctions and Casper the friendly ghost rearranges what little furniture I've got.

That said, there's a fantastic bakery 'round the bend. One I wandered into and will now be the death of me, or the cause of me becoming the latest on 'My 600-lb Life.' No regrets.

I'll take any used book shoppe or bar recommendations if you've got them though? I used to tend bar, in fact, so it'll be nice to be on the other side of things. Thanks in advance - I'm James, by the by. Moved to the States some time ago, form Ireland. Why do Americans turn their beer green for St. Patrick's Day? Never understood that one.

sooo how familiar are you with stephen king's body of work? bc the best way i can describe this place is if the overlook hotel and rose red had a baby. possibly during a threesome with the hotel california.

I'd say moderately familiar. Enough to know that sounds utterly terrifying.

There are no clowns as the embodiment of all evil though, right?

At least there's that. But no, I understand your reluctance to live amongst clowns regardless. I don't know anyone who actually enjoys clowns.

idc one way or the other, altho i will admit i admire whatever magic is behind their lack of make-up melting off they face in the ring. or w/e you call that area in a circus clowns perform in.

..i think i just set a record for derailing a topic. sorry about that.

No, it's quite alright, you got me curious so I used the Google. That makeup is really greasepaint.

are you middle aged or something?

i feel like an idiot for not thinking of that. i used to run around with theater people ffs.

You learn something new everyday. Perhaps they just didn't take many roles which required clown paint?

Ah, yes. The mountains and sea breeze tend to trap smog here. New York not so much.

Though the downside might be that this state is on fire a lot more often.

ok so, if you can stand zombies at all you need to watch romero's (rip, hope he claws his way up soon) entire catalog, and i'm not just saying that because we share a name.

other than that, i'm gonna need a lil more information about your tastes. are more interested in slasher films, monster movies, vampire movies (totally different)? and do you like cgi and jumpscares or more practical effects and general creepiness?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]arcane

I'd say more practicality and general creepiness. Bonus for psychological thrillers. I'm a psychiatrist, hence the affinity.

Welcome to the building?; it seems you've joined us at a...strange time. I hope you don't let that color your impression of everyone? It really is a lovely place we have here when it's not making us feel like we're insane.

I'm Isobel, in 105. If you need anything, let me know!

A pleasure, Isobel. I haven't met many people yet but of the ones I have most were friendly, so my perception's pretty positive-coloured.

And thanks for the offer. How long have you been here?

FRESSSSSSSSHHHHH BLOOOOOOOOOOD???????

Oh maN, are you IN for it, but I see Vinnie's already rolled out the welcome mat.

Vinnie, we should make you, like, the official greeter or something. Maybe or something.

BB, by the way. Like the gun, not the droid.

Got me a bit gobsmacked there, love, but I appreciate the enthusiasm. In for what, exactly?

I would have guessed the gun, I'm not sure what a 'droid' is. BB, that's a nice name though.

I've never been to prison, so I'll take your word for it. And so you think people generally don't renew their leases then, or?

Good to know. We're neighbours, I see, so feel free to pop by for tea sometime.

I think we just like changing it up a bit from holiday to holiday; we should start a petition to change beer to blue for Christmas. Any takers?

Anyway, I have a couple of places that I've been hitting up regularly when writer's block just won't go away. I'd be happy to show you around, if you like! I'm Gabe, in 801.

I'm all for changing beer to blue for the holiday season. Silver and blue ought to be utilised more around that time of year anyway, than green and red.

That would be great, thanks a bunch. Well met, Gabe - you're a writer?

That I am, though more of screen than anything you might find in a store. I do have a couple things that're in B&N now, and some other things that are in the works.

What do you do to keep the lights on?

That must keep you busy. I imagine screenwriting is a lot different than being a novelist?

Me, I'm a psychiatrist. Hoping to get back into it, anyway.
