I went to Greece, to Athens and Corinth and Arkadía. Nothing is the same as it used to be. The temples are all shadows of what they once were and the air isn’t as soothing, the ground feels different and when I went to see Mount Olympus, it was foreign, empty, upsetting. It’s still beautiful but it’s beauty is bland and no longer divine.

If Zeus were here he’d make them fix everything.

This world almost makes me long for my family, although I don’t think I’d like to see Hera again. She was a bitch. The Queen of Bitches.

I think I’ll go play with the vampires. One of you should come along, one of you who isn’t human, or maybe just not a fragile, regular human. If you’re normal and weak, I might break you. I don’t care, but you might.

	Aren't you lonely all by yourself? ... London, England. Earth? Among other places. Well, no, I haven't met them. I've been sort of busy to do social calls. But I know they are there. They weren't company before and they wouldn't be now. I like the mortals. I'm not lonely. I have Ivy and Damien to keep me company. I'd rather be around them than the others.

Too busy for social calls? That doesn't sound fun at all. Did you like the centaurs? I always liked them but sadly, I don't think there are any here. I had a gryphon but she disappeared. I think she flew off somewhere. I should find her...

I've never met any of the Norse gods, nor the Japanese. We didn't have them. Did you like them?

I like centaurs! Heeh. I used to look after them, I can't do that now. They are very interesting and tell great stories.

Tsuki-yomi was a sadistic creep that got what he deserved. Most of the japanese pantheon are always causing us trouble. And, mm, the norse depends. I guess Bergelmir isn't a god, he's a giant... A short giant. He's a good person. He's also the boyfriend of a friend of mine. Fenris and his followers aren't in good terms with me, either.

They couldn't? The centaurs, specially the female ones, are very eloquent. They hold contest of stories each year. It's spiffy.

...More or less. I used to be a guardian of everything except hedgehogs; my friend Mona was in charge of those. We weren't worshiped, unlike most gods. ~~Lucifer forbade worship~~. We didn't need it. They called us "Sisters of Mercy." Now... I'm something else.

I think he's a nice boy. He's... original. It's refreshing.

They were often too interested in the wine and the women to stand about and tell stories. They were exciting creatures, very lively. The females were always calmer than the males. I think you would have liked them better.

You're lucky that you didn't need worship. We needed it and that didn't get us anywhere in the end. If you're no longer a goddess, then what are you? I didn't know you could stop being one.

I'm Dionysus. Bacchus to some, but I prefer Dionysus.

It's a long story. I'm half human and someone appointed me as goddess because I asked him to; he was in my debt. He forbade worship and frankly, worship is uncomfortable to me. I only wanted to watch over people, so they wouldn't feel alone and knew there was someone up there who cares. I still want to do that, but it's different; I have been given a... promotion. All gods I know from home need worship, unless you are, well, God who created everything in the first place.

I know you! Read about you when I was still a student. I used to love books. Nice to meet you.

I am half mortal as well, but I still needed worship like all the others. I don't think I need it to survive anymore, not since they brought me back. I still like it but I don't believe I'd cease to exist without it.

Isn't there someone up there who is supposed to care and watch out for all the people below? The Christian God? Where is he? Doesn't he ever come here?

It's always good to know that there are still people who know my name. Maybe we'll meet in person, although I don't know if you'd like that very much.

Well, He's not the Christian God. It's more like the Christians, among other religions who imagine a God Creator, believe in Him. He's all of them: Yahweh, Allah, God. None of them are false, they are the same Creator, using different names because He's perceived by many in their own ways. Funny you ask that, I keep wondering the same because He left the Creation I'm from and everything is a complete mess.

I'd like to meet you. Many here don't understand what's like... be a power. I try to keep a low profile, be like them. And you're not going to drive me insane or are you?

My first mother was Semele. I don't know why they'd think it was Persephone. I think maybe we confused some of the mortals who wrote about us. Some of them lied for the pleasure of lying, others didn't know any better.

He was supposed to be in the world that I'm from, but he didn't show up to help the mortals when they needed him. He let me take away his followers and do what I wanted with them. I found that odd. I wonder if he would have interfered if it had lasted longer. I don't understand him.

I could never try to be like them. It would be terrible. No, I wouldn't drive you insane. But if you're one of those people who claim to be 'good', I don't think you'd like me.

I used to think the same. But after... what happened to me, before coming here, and all I'm doing to keep myself from their fights. I'm starting to think why He wouldn't interfere. It always makes things worse; you can't change the world and make it totally a peaceful place because that would be taking away free will. The hardest to do when you have power: to do nothing at all.

This doesn't mean I am going to not be angry at Him for leaving. Leaving isn't doing nothing, leaving is giving up on us.

Hey, you are judging me before you know me. I watched over people, supposedly "good" and "bad" for a long, long time. As long you are not trying to end the world or Creation or hurting my family, I don't think I'm going to openly dislike you. Some of your past-times? It's possible. The person I consider... like a role model and father figure? He's a self-absorbed, selfish and arrogant bastard and he's honest about it. That's why I trust him.

I have the one from long ago, and the one who helped bring me back. That was seventeen years ago. I don't like to talk about the second one. She's a betrayer.

I think a lot of people would have liked him to interfere when I came along. It was a terrible mess, an awful mess. It's not at all easy to create a new Underworld that the dead actually want to go to. I don't think mine was very nice... I'd try it again, but I don't feel like it right now.

I don't know why he would want to leave if he is supposed to watch over his creation. Do you think he's in trouble?

No, I would never try to end the world. I like the world too much to see it go away. Unlike some of the family that I once had, I don't feel the need to lie about who and what I am. If you want honestly, I'll give it to you.

Maybe. I don't think people know what they want God to do, actually. They all have their own ideas and their own choices. You can't please everyone. Underworld? An afterlife? ~~I built one recently.~~ If you want ideas, I can help you there when the time comes again.

He's not in trouble. There's no force that can get Him in trouble. He's the source of everything. He only departed and nobody knows where He is or why He do it.

Well, see, that's what I needed to hear.

I don't know. They went away when we went away. There could be some of them still left in this world, but mostly I've only heard of the ones that I've brought back. They're in the park.

They are always famished and always looking for something to eat. I gave them grapes once, but they didn't like grapes... They like blood so I let them have what they want. It makes them happy.

Hmm.. yeah, I do find that this place tends to be more interesting than any other region I've been to in the world. It's a bit exciting. Being who I am, no one will ever hear of me turning down anything that brings enjoyment. If certain followers ~~like the ones who serve the Christian God~~ would quit trying to resist temptation, and just give in to it.. well, they'd feel a lot better. I know.

Cool. I'll find you. Shouldn't be too hard, you'll know when I'm within a hundred feet or so. It'll be lots of fun for us. But... not so much for the vampires. That's always amusing.
