I can think of two reasons.

One. The PTB and/or Senior Partners are behind it. Either for kicks, or there may be a reason. Usually, the PTB bring good people, SP brings baddies... in the normal timline. But maybe the SP did this just to muck with time. They probably don't know that possibly there could be repercussions even for them.

Two. It could be an omniscient being, one capable of altering time and space. A being with similar power of the SP/PTB's in that they can pluck people from any time or universe. Could be a spell. Or a time-device.

	Its possible. We need to know if theres anyone here with the power of time manipulation that aren't the SP or PTB. If not we have to consider those higher powers Indeed.
