The good news was that more people had come together than she had expected. The majority of them had voted to make temporary camp near the waterfall. She hadn't necessarily disagreed with the argument that a waterfall caused too much noise to hear potential threats. But majority rule had won out in that occasion. It wasn't necessarily permanent, it was just a place to crash while they made more permanent and stable plans. This place hopefully wasn't filled with large threats, besides animals, but it was far too early to tell if that was the case.

Sara had spent the rest of the day showing anyone who wanted to learn how to build a shelter for themselves using just what was available to them. Luckily it was hot enough that none of them were going to freeze without blankets. She'd been trapped on colder islands than this. This? Really was paradise.

When the sun rose, so did she. She'd crawled out of her leaf hut, and looked around the camp sight. Personally, she liked it. They were next to a stream, a waterfall, the beach wasn't too hard to get to. She was probably going to start drawing up plans for a round lodge in the same area. It was bigger, a large shelter to do for now.

But first, food and probably taking advantage of the waterfall. Because why not? It was the first time in a long time she didn't feel pressure to really do anything but survive. If Sara was anything, she was a survivor. This was infinitely better than the 1950s. No immortals to deal with, no mission. Yes, she had wanted to change her own fate. But after it became clear the team wasn't coming back to get them, this was the better option. She could be useful here. She could protect people, help them survive. Build, hunt, offer protection. Sara could be useful, and take the time to take care of herself at the same time.

She had noted yesterday that there was a number of fruit trees growing on the island, and yesterday she had spotted peaches. She moved through their camp quietly toward the tree. She couldn't reach the lowest branch with fruit standing, but it was nothing for her to jump, swing herself up and pick a few peaches off before jumping back down again.

Breakfast in hand, she headed over to the waterfall, sitting down on a rock by the waters edge and submerging her legs in the pool.

"I already ate something, thanks," Ruby said, waving off the offer of a peach even though they smelled really good. She figured any food on an island created by gods would probably be delicious. Especially since she assumed that the gods and goddesses in charge had a vested interest in the success of their new society.

She leaned back on her elbows, enjoying the way the early morning sun felt on her face. They obviously had some hard work ahead of them, building shelter and figuring out how to provide food and clothing for themselves, but there were also plenty of rewards waiting for them. Even though they were supposed to help repopulate society, Ruby figured that sex in general would provide positive energy and she definitely wouldn't mind engaging in that with people like Sara.

"I went and looked around in the jungle this morning. There's a lot of wildlife here," she said. "We'll have to figure out ways to cook and preserve meat."

Shrugging, she put the peach back down and took another bite of the current one. Sara didn't bother to hide the fact that she was studying Ruby's face while she leaned back, enjoying the warmth. Yep. There were worse places to be. If she could help build a secure place for society while surrounded by people like this, she would not complain.

"We could build some kind of smoke house." she offered. "I know the basic idea, I've just never had to build one. Always went through anything I caught too quickly." Finishing off the peach, she tossed it aside away from them, and then laid back on the rock, staring up at the clear sky.

"There's a lot to build, really, and god only knows how many people are going to have different ideas. But I'll do whatever I can to help." she said with a shrug, before turning her head to look over at Ruby. "Do you have a lot of survival experience?"

A smokehouse was a good idea. Ruby wasn't sure how to build one either, but there had to be someone around here who could help figure that out. "You could say that," she said with a shrug. "I lived for a long time in a place that was at this level technologically so I'm sure I can help that way." Given that it seemed like most of the people were from places more like Storybrooke than the Enchanted Forest.

"I'm also a pretty good hunter," she said. "So I don't mind contributing that way once we figure out how to process the meat."

Sara had to laugh at the comment because she had somewhat of the same experience. "Same, in a sense. Though the tech was there if we needed it. But it was all torches and castles. This isn't even my first island, actually. Though this one is a hell of a lot nicer." The point was, Sara had experiencing surviving, and in much more unpleasant places.

"I think I'd prefer the hunting, too. Hunting, building, even security in some ways, maybe. Protection. I guess my plan is to be useful that way, and less on babies." she said with a shrug. "Though the sex is a pretty great selling point too." she smiled just slightly, borderline flirting. She wasn't sure about Ruby, but she had approached Sara, even if it was just to chat. No harm in looking into prospects.

Sara looked back up at the sky, one hand moving behind her head to act as a pillow. "The sooner we can get living spaces up and running, the better. I don't expect everyone will end up in this area, but I think I want to stick somewhat close to the falls, personally."

"Pretty sure the sex is really what convinced all of us to say yes," Ruby replied, giving Sara a smirk. "I mean, I might be willing to have a couple babies eventually, but for right now, I'm definitely looking to focus on other ways to contribute."

And sex was pretty much the most fun way possible to do that.

Sara was intelligent and Ruby found that attractive too. They definitely needed to establish better living conditions before people started popping out kids that needed to be taken care of.

"That was actually only a little piece of it, for me." she said with a laugh. Emotions and Sara were learning to reconnect. The whole concept had been both intimidating and intriguing. She needed to learn to open up again, even just a little bit. She'd never been that open to begin with.

The sun felt nice, especially laying on a dark rock. She almost felt at ease, which did not happen often. "So, day two in paradise. Anyone catch your eye yet?"

The big draw for Ruby was getting out of that stupid witch's cottage and being human again, but she wasn't quite ready to share that. "Possibly," she said, raising her eyebrows suggestively. "I mean, honestly, the powers that be seem to have chosen a lot of incredibly attractive people."

Which made sense, given that they wanted people having sex and making babies. "How about you?"

Yeah, there it was. Sara smiled, rolling over onto her side and propping herself up on one elbow. "They have, I can't imagine that was planned at all." she said with a smirk. "Yeah, I've seen a few people that I would not mind spending some time with." she replied, deliberately keeping her eyes on Ruby as she said it. "Guess I'm just feeling things out, seeing if anyone can match my speed." It was only day two. But with really only each other for entertainment, and their work of building society, she would be surprised if some people already hadn't found someone to hook up with.

At least everyone seemed to be somewhat in the same age range, late teens to twenties. There were all kinds of options, but she tended to be drawn to stronger individuals these days, people who could keep up or best her.

"Yeah? What's your speed?" Ruby asked. Because, seriously, Sara was hot and even if they couldn't make babies, they could definitely have some fun together and that was still an important part of building this new society.

She definitely wasn't the shy type and someone who was less likely to freak out about her full moon problems would be nice. There was a sense of strength in Sara that she thought might make her a good candidate to have as a friend.

Sara tilted her head and grinned. "Why? Care to find out?" Forward, she had no problem being forward. There was no rebuilding of society when it came to attraction to other ladies, but there was no rules that said they had to move toward kids. Other wise Sara would never have signed up for something like this. Babies were not in her future, ever. But she could help build. And enjoy herself in the process.

Forward seemed like the way to be around here. "I just might," Ruby said. "I have a feeling it might match my own." She was glad that she decided to stop and talk to Sara. Something about the way she carried herself reminded her a bit of Emma and Ruby had secretly had a thing for the Savior since she showed up in Storybrooke.

It didn't take much more to make Sara move. Since coming back from the dead, she had attempted intimate contact with only one other person. It had been an emotional slap to the face, but now she knew what to expect to feel. She had to push past that.

Sara moved quickly and easily until she was close to Ruby, her face almost looking directly down, just a foot or two away. "Feel like taking a walk with me?" she asked suggestively, raising her eyebrows with a smile.

Ruby felt her heart rate speed up a little when Sara moved so close. It had been a while since she was with anyone and she hoped that she wasn't out of practice. Rather than answering Sara's question, she leaned in to close the brief distance between them and kissed the other woman, lifting one hand to tuck a stray lock of hair behind her ear.

She could hear the alarms in he head instantly. Those voices telling her to get the hell away before she started to feel pretty much anything. She'd felt those already, though. It was something she was going to push aside. This time, they would not get the better of her. Sara returned the kiss, her free hand resting lightly on Ruby's cheek. She was going to take that as a yes.

It was definitely a yes, though Ruby wasn't feeling really inclined to actually get up and move. They were definitely in an area that was too open and where they were too likely to be seen if they stayed here though and if this was going to go any further, Ruby would prefer not to risk having an audience.

She tangled her hand in Sara's hair and pulled back just enough that she could speak. "So, about that walk..."

This morning had not gone the way she had imagined it going. In fact, it had been a very rapid change. But a good one. Smiling, Sarah carefully got to her feet and offered Ruby a hand up. "Shall we?" As nice as it would be to stay here, it was far to exposed. It was still early, and the jungle was large enough that they probably wouldn't have to walk for too long.

This was definitely the best morning Ruby had in a long time and she grinned as she took Sara's hand and let the woman help her to her feet. "Absolutely," she agreed.
