WHO: Lydia Martin & Reese Williams
WHERE: The beach and then moving inland
WHEN: Shortly after arriving
WHAT: Meeting up in person
WARNINGS: None
STATUS: Complete

i'll do what i want, 'cause this is my life, right here. right now.

Well. It seemed like a good idea at the time. Lydia had expected to be taken from home and meet loads of new people, try new things, learn new things, and finally be able to make a difference that ended in life rather than death. Apparently, half of the pack had the same idea. Moreover, they weren't even from the same time as she was — she had no idea how that worked and thinking about it made her head hurt. So Lydia focused on one of the important things. Meeting up with her friends would come when it came because they had fresh water. Reese was offering shelter. That was two out of three necessities and Lydia wasn't going to look a gorgeous gift horse with an Australian accent in the mouth.

So, she gathered up the supplies she'd found nearby and headed toward the sound of waves crashing on rocks, finding the beach after about a five minute walk. She couldn't have been too far in the jungle, then, she realized. So that was something, at least.

Lydia moved toward the water's edge, taking her sandals off and letting her feet sink into the wet sand as she looked around for the man named Reese. This place was incredible. Once they all got over the initial hump, she thought, of adjusting...Lydia had a feeling, deep down, that they could make this thing amazing. She really hoped that she was right.

When she saw him approaching, Lydia turned a little and shielded her eyes with the sun, calling out to him from the short distance. "Are you Reese?" It was hard to see with the glare, so it was worth double checking, she thought.

Reese could tell the smile was faked; actually he could even smell the slight discomfort in the air. Sometimes werewolf noses were amazingly annoying, and told him a lot of things that he didn't want to know. Had he made her feel that way? Had he done something wrong, to offend her? He felt his heartbeat increase, hoping that he hadn't. He liked Lydia. Whether as someone who he might do things with later, or just as a friend, he liked her. And he didn't want to think that he'd been able to scare her away so quickly.

"Yes, of course I want to," he said, reaching down to take her hand and squeezing it gently before letting go.

Feeling him take her hand, even if it was just to give it a squeeze and let go, made Lydia give a more genuine smile. He was sweet. ...and either unwittingly intuitive or genuinely intuitive. Being surrounded by werewolves made Lydia question those things all the time now — intuition or sense of smell?

"Okay, good, I was kind of hoping you'd say that," she admitted, nodding forward and taking his hand again, because why not? It was kind of endearing. Lydia took a deep breath and huffed it out in a long-suffering sigh that ended in a soft laugh. "Let's go find the rest of my hometown, then, since apparently the gods and goddesses have a thing for Beacon Hills," she said, a little smirk on her face.

"Maybe you're just all amazing people," he said, and although it was a cheesy thing to say, there was a sense of sweetness and sincerity behind it that made it...well, if not completely okay, at least less cheesy. Reese genuinely did care, and it didn't hurt anything that Lydia was absolutely beautiful.

"But yeah, I do want to stay with you." He could tell her that it was strange to be all by himself, that it wasn't natural for werewolves, but they had a strong code of secrecy, and he wasn't going to break that. He was used to something like that endangering both of their lives. "As friends, of course." Or more. But he was going to leave that in her court.

"Well, that might be a little bit of a stretch, but they obviously saw something in us, so I guess that's something," Lydia half-agreed.

Lydia could understand not wanting to start out in a new place completely alone. It was why, before she realized that her friends were here, she had latched onto someone to meet up with; she hadn't wanted to start out in this new world alone, either, so she didn't question it.

The latter bit that he tacked on got him another smile. "We'll have to see about the friends bit," she teased with a wink. "Come on, let's go."

That froze Reese in his steps for a second, and he swallowed before taking another step forward. The idea of sleeping with someone as beautiful as Lydia was both amazing and terrifying. Amazing because...well, because hell, look at her. Terrifying because, well, it had been kind of a long time for him, and he didn't want to end up with another nightmare like the one Danielle had turned his life into.

Although he was pretty sure something like that couldn't happen here.

"Yeah," he said. "I think I hear them up over the hill." Sensitive hearing was a godsend when it came to finding your way somewhere. A little nervously, and very tentatively, he reached down to take her hand again.

"Come on."
