Who: Everyone Bring Your Own Thread
What: Housewarming Party
When: Friday Night
Where: Chloe and Finnick’s new cabin
Warnings: TBD but probably none
Status: OPEN/Incomplete

Their cabin was finished! Or at least finished enough Chloe and Finnick could move in. They were having a housewarming party the night before they usually had a bonfire. This was a milestone not just for the soon to be parents, but for the island community. Maybe soon they could build a cabin for other people. It would go faster too, now that they had experience putting one together.

Chloe was still packing up her stuff in the old shelter she shared with Finnick. Not being able to bend too easily and growing suddenly tired made moving their stuff something way outside her normal OCD tendencies. It was driving her nuts!

“Finnick?” she called out in exasperation from where she was looking in corners. “Have you seen the pillows? There’s that one that I shove between my knees when my back hurts and it’s the only one I don’t want to lose.”

Stiles nodded. "You're right that everyone brings something different to the table. Helping with the animals is going pretty well." It was something that let him feel useful and that he was unlikely to harm himself doing. Well, unless he pissed off the cows and they decided to trample him or something.

"I hope that giving the babies to Arva will help us get some more things from the gods," he added.

"Oh wow, I hadn't thought about that. It might. I mean, Arva must be pretty pleased with you guys now." It would be nice to get some more gifts from the gods. They'd already been given so much, and they'd accomplished a lot with the supplies they had been given, but there were still things they couldn't make on their own. Like anything metal. That wasn't the only thing, but it was a big thing.

Of course no one knew how the gods determined what gifts to give them and when, but it seemed like the fist two babies being given to her would be a pretty big thing. Maybe it would mean gifts specifically for Malia and Stiles, although the gods also seemed pretty big on stuff for the whole community.

"It must have been really hard. It was brave of you guys to give them up."

"It was hard," Stiles said. "But it was the right thing to do. If the baby had been ours together, that would have been different." He loved Malia and raising their baby together would be a lot easier than raising the children they had with other people.

Finnick nodded. That made a lot of sense. Of course it would be more difficult to raise children that didn't belong to both of them. Plus they were so young. It did seem like the right thing to do in their case.

"I'm sure Arva is taking really, really good care of them."

There was no doubt in Stiles' mind that Arva was taking excellent care of the babies. It was the whole reason she brought them here, to build a new civilization, and that meant creating new life to sustain their population long term. She had every reason to take the best care of the babies that were given to her.

"I know," he said. "I'm not really worried about them." He was worried about how Malia was handling the whole thing, but he knew there was nothing he could really do to make it easier for her. She definitely wasn't ready to go through another pregnancy so soon and neither of them was actually ready to raise a baby. As hard as it was to give the babies up, it was the best option for all of them.

Finnick couldn't think of anything else to say about the babies that wouldn't make it worse, so he changed the subject.

"We should go fishing again some time. Or take the puppy down to the beach and throw the ball around. You know, just do some fun guy stuff."

"Yeah, that sounds cool," Stiles said. The last time they'd gone fishing was when Lydia was still here and it was when they'd awkwardly fooled around. Now that Stiles was a little more confident about his bicuriosity, he definitely wasn't opposed to doing something like that again. It seemed like it was inappropriate to suggest such a thing at Finnick's housewarming party though.

He realized that he hadn't seen the puppy around this evening. "Is Rinny staying with you guys? Or is he still kind of bouncing around everywhere?" he asked. The dog generally gave his place a wide berth, probably because of Malia.

Finnick wasn't even thinking about the time they messed around, although he wouldn't have been opposed to the idea.

"No, I think he's mostly been staying with Maria. She got in the habit of looking after him while her leg was broken and she needed the company. I just take him out for exercise and play sometimes." They were supposed to train him to help with herding the animals, but Finnick had no idea how to do that, so they just worked on some tricks and played fetch.

Stiles nodded. "Guess that makes sense." It didn't much matter to him because he knew that the dog would likely want to avoid Malia due to her were nature. It still surprised him that Scott managed to work at the clinic back home. Maybe it was because the animals sensed he was an Alpha. Or maybe they just could tell that Malia wouldn't hesitate to eat them.

"Listen, I shouldn't take up all of your time," he said. "You have plenty of other guests who you should say hi to. We'll talk soon, okay?"

"Sure. It was good to talk to you. Thanks for coming." He clapped a hand on his shoulder, and then went to circulate with this other guests.
