Who: Everyone Bring Your Own Thread
What: Housewarming Party
When: Friday Night
Where: Chloe and Finnick’s new cabin
Warnings: TBD but probably none
Status: OPEN/Incomplete

Their cabin was finished! Or at least finished enough Chloe and Finnick could move in. They were having a housewarming party the night before they usually had a bonfire. This was a milestone not just for the soon to be parents, but for the island community. Maybe soon they could build a cabin for other people. It would go faster too, now that they had experience putting one together.

Chloe was still packing up her stuff in the old shelter she shared with Finnick. Not being able to bend too easily and growing suddenly tired made moving their stuff something way outside her normal OCD tendencies. It was driving her nuts!

“Finnick?” she called out in exasperation from where she was looking in corners. “Have you seen the pillows? There’s that one that I shove between my knees when my back hurts and it’s the only one I don’t want to lose.”

"I'm kind of new," he said. "I was here before but I went home then home wasn't so good so I decided to come back. You weren't here before when I was though." Cisco knew he would have remembered her, there was no way he could forget someone who looked like that. It would be impossible.

"I knew Finnick when I was here before. I didn't know he was having a baby with Chloe though, I guess that happened after I left." Cisco couldn't remember if Chloe had been here before. She could have been but right now he was still trying to process everything. "Where are my manners? I didn't even tell you my name. I'm Cisco."

"Oh, no, I guess I wasn't here the first time. I haven't been here all that long. Already know I'm never going back, though. This place is so much better than my home."

She nodded when he said that he knew Finnick. She was pretty sure that most people did - he seemed to have made himself pretty indispensable to this place; made himself a fixture of it. And she was glad for him. He seemed so much happier here.

"I'm Lustre," she said

"Yeah it's really nice here," he said. "I'm not planning on going back again." Cisco had already decided that. He had no idea what exactly he was going to do here since he wasn't into having a baby just yet but it was better than trying to exist in two completely different worlds and not knowing which one might pop up at any time.

"Lustre?" he repeated. "that's a really cool name. I have never met anyone named Lustre before. I'm...I guess you could say...interested in names." Just from looking at her, he could think of a few superhero names that would fit her well.

Lustre was pretty sure she'd rather die than go back, but she wasn't going to get into that here. It was a bit melodramatic for the occasion.

"Eh," she shrugged. "It's a District One name. My district back home makes luxury items, and for some reason they feel the need to name all their kids after them, too. Glimmer. Shine. Cashmere. Gloss. Normal names back home."

They were a bit weird, yeah, even if she hadn't realized that until she'd been removed from District One for the games.

It took a minute for it to register. Cisco knew Finnick's origins, where he came from and he should have guessed when Lustre told him her name where she was from. "What do they name the guys?" he asked, genuinely curious. "I can't imagine naming a boy Cashmere or Gloss. That would be mean."

But from what he knew of the world Finnick came from (granted he'd read about in a book and seen a movie while Finnick and Lustre had lived it), he understood why Lustre didn't want to go back. "How long ago since you won the Games?" he asked.

That made Lustre laugh, she couldn't help it.

"Um, Gloss is a guy." That probably told him enough about how they named guys there. It wasn't really any different than the girls. They all had names after something luxurious and a lot of those names sounded decidedly feminine.

"Seven years," she said, her face darkening a little. "But I don't want to talk about that. Why don't we talk about something more fun? Like you."

"Oh. Okay," Cisco shook his head. He'd already put his foot in his mouth with a gorgeous girl. Not that that was anything unusual but thankfully she didn't seem to mind.

He couldn't blame her for not wanting to talk about the Games. Cisco wouldn't want to talk about them either if he'd actually participated in them. He probably wouldn't have made it past the first day actually. "Me? I'm not that interesting. I work with computers, design tech, engineering. It's fun." Help fight crime...well sort of.

"Ah," she smiled. "So you're a smart guy."

Lustre could respect that. Brains could help you win the games, sometimes more than sheer brute strength did. She wasn't a stupid girl, but she didn't consider herself overly smart, either.

"That sounds interesting to me. Tell me about the kind of things you design."

This would be the part where he would start sounding like a geek and the beautiful woman would walk away. He'd been there before but she'd asked and he wasn't smooth enough to think of another answer so he just wwnt with the truth.

"Well I design tech for a company called STAR Labs. I also build computers and things that superheroes can use." he wondered what she thought about that, he didn't recall any superheroes in the Hunger Games. "I'm good at engineering, designing stuff. I'm going to try and help with the electricity for the camp. I was working on it when I was here before."

Lustre had been given a crash course in superheroes when she arrived here. Cisco was right that she'd never been exposed to the idea back home - Victors were about as close as they got to something like that and it was very different indeed.

But she definitely didn't feel the need to walk away. She'd never found smart people 'geeky.' She'd just kind of wished that she was smarter. Especially after discovering what awaited her after the Games had been won - maybe if she'd been smarter she would have seen through the propaganda from the beginning.

"That's awesome," she said, and there wasn't any mocking. She meant it. "We need smart people as much as strong people. More, probably. Smart people can come up with ways to be strong, but strong people are pretty much stuck being brutes."

She smiled a little.

"I don't suppose you'd want to go somewhere a little more private?"

He had to fight to keep his mouth from falling open. Clearly he had pleased Arva if someone who looked like Lustre was asking him if he wanted to go somewhere more private. Cisco had not expected this but he was certainly not going to say no.

"Sure, I mean yeah, that would be great. Somewhere more private," he said. "Where would you like to go? I'm not sure I remember where everything is." Which was kind of a dumb thing to say but it's what came out of his mouth and it wasn't a lie, at that particular moment, he wasn't even sure he could remember where his own shelter was.

"Back to my shelter, maybe?" She smiled at him, and thought it was ridiculously cute how nervous he was. She knew she was pretty, but it had been a while since she'd had this kind of affect on someone. She kind of loved it.

"You can stay the night."

"That sounds like a good idea," he said. "since my shelter is still pretty empty so thanks. I will take you up on that."

He was glad he'd decided to come to this little get together after all. There was also a part of him that wanted to tell Barry he wasn't t he only one getting lucky tonight but that might a little inappropriate so no. "Lead the way."

Nothing was very far from anywhere else in their little village, so it was only a few minutes later that she led him into her simple little cabin. It wasn't much, but it was comfortable, and while she didn't have a bed she'd managed to make a rather comfortable sleeping area with blankets and such.

She took down her hair, letting it fall in dark waves around her shoulders. She smiled at him and leaned in to kiss him, softly. She wanted sex, yeah, but this wasn't like the time she spent with Chris Argent. She wanted it to be a little romantic too, and honestly? She liked what she'd seen of this guy so far. He was adorable.

This was definitely going to be a fun night.

[And wrap!]
