Bucky & Jack
"Hey, that's not a small thing. Not sure how well I'd have done living with the guy I became after a few things, if I'd actually had a choice about it. Though," his voice warmed a bit, the hint of darkness chased from his eyes, "getting to know all the great people I wouldn't have known if I'd stayed back home's helped a lot." He'd said the same thing to Ianto, although it had meant something different he'd still been just as sincere. All the beings he'd met in his long life--even some of the ones that had killed him--had made being dragged back for the last century and a half a lot more bearable. "Think that's one of the many great things about this place, we get to find new people who don't know the men we were, just who we're trying to be now."
He had to try not to laugh when Bucky stammered around explaining what he'd done, not wanting the other man to take it the wrong way. It was delightful to watch any of them explore themselves this way, even if some of 'em decided they would actually rather restrain themselves to one gender. "That's great. Can't say I was ever in quite the same boat, that's been one of the few things I've usually been pretty confident about. But I know what it can be like, having that after...doing some things you're not proud of." He couldn't count the number of lovers who'd had to soothe him for things he couldn't actually say out loud, sometimes just with their bodies but a few had actually whispered reassurances that he'd loved them all the more for, even if he couldn't accept them. "Not sure if you're looking for a repeat with whoever it was, but--" he chewed on his tongue for a second, hand flexing against his leg, knowing there was a good chance he'd kick himself for this in a few minutes, but hey, the door was open now at least. "...if you're ever interested, in anything, I definitely wouldn't tell you no."
