Dr. Jemma Simmons ([info]drsimmons) wrote in [info]paradisolog,
Ray and Jemma
Jemma had intentionally kept a low profile for the last day, after her unintentional but rather embarrassing faux pas last night. She hadn't meant to upset the boy, she had simply been excited at the likelihood of having found someone suffering from a rare condition. She hadn't meant to seem cold, but she had cringed this morning when she'd read over what she'd written last night. She was going to have to be more careful - the nurse and everyone else had scolded her, and with reason. From now on, she would make more effort to think before she spoke, and not allow her excitement to get the best of her. It wasn't a good thing when it hurt other people's feelings, or frightened them. That wasn't the person she wanted to be.

She sat near the fire, listening as Ray spoke. She was still rather fond of him, and he was definitely still on her short list for having a child with when the time came. If, of course, she hadn't fallen out of favor with him. But that was irrelevant right now. Now was a night for stories and camaraderie and she intended to enjoy it.

When she saw his display, her eyes went wide, and she watched in controlled silence. The technology of something like that wasn't Jemma's specialty - it was Fitz's. And she missed Fitz right now, like nothing she'd ever known. He'd be fascinated by that suit. And Jemma wouldn't be worried about proving herself to people who didn't know her. She'd have a friend here, someone in that corner. Bloody hell, she missed him.

"I'd like to see," she said after a moment. Maybe, if she chose to go home, she could at least relate the story to Fitz. She had no doubt that he could figure out how to reconstruct it if she could explain in enough detail.
