The rain events had been interesting. Kate had managed to bottle some of the hot sauce from the other day. It was definitely worth keeping clear of it, though. The last thing she had wanted was to get that stuff in her eyes, or any other parts of her body. Talk about uncomfortable! The truth rain, as pretty as it was, had given Kate a bit of clarity on things she had been thinking too much on. She had borrowed some paper and wrote everything down that she could. It had given her a peace of mind.

For the bonfire, she had fancied herself up a bit. A brightly-colored flower in her hair, which smelled faintly of coconut. Not only were they delicious and refreshing, but they did make a great body oil and perfume base.

Stretched out comfortably on the sand, not far from the bonfire, Kate was enjoying the peace and quite of the evening.

Felicity hadn't really had much an interesting time at the last bonfire, sitting by herself, but the weird rain had kept her inside with Tommy out of fear that the rain would get on him and cause him pain. It only took a little bit in the eye or any of the other sensitive mucous membranes of her dear little boy to cause excruciating pain.

But now that the rain had stopped, she felt that it would be okay to attend the bonfire with her son in tow sleeping tucked into his basket. The only one there so far was Kate and she looked so pretty and Felicity felt that she really wasn't the one that the woman was trying to attract, especially on sex island, so she didn't sit too close, but close enough to try and talk. "That's a really neat flower. Did you get it from the forest?"

Sitting up, Kate flashed Felicity a bright smile. "Yeah? Thanks! And, yeah. By one of the waterfalls. I love making things from the community center, but there are a lot of natural things that make such beautiful things."

Scooting over toward her new friend, Kate gestured to the sleeping little one in the basket. "A prime example of something beautiful made on the island I'm assuming." She kept a quiet tone so not to wake little Tommy. "He's adorable, by the way."

Kate didn't hesitate to take the flower from her hair and hand it to Felicity as well. "I think it'll look nice in your hair."

"I know where you're talking about. If you go to the other side of the waterfall and a bit further into the forest, there are some amazing orchids back there. Too beautiful to pick, so I never have, but I like to go back there and look." And have sex... once. The idea wasn't out of the question in the future.

Felicity smiled and accepted the flower, tucking it in her ponytail in the back of her head. She found it sweet that Kate was trying to be quiet on the behalf of the baby, but she didn't need to. Tommy was at that age where when he was tired, he slept, even if a dance party was going on. "Thank you. He's a good baby, at least right now. He just really does baby things and scream when he's mad. I haven't quite figured him out completely yet."

"Yeah? I'll have to check that out. Sounds like a good place to go if you need to clear your head." Private living spaces were good for that as well, but sometimes surrounding yourself with nature made it even more relaxing.

Glancing back down at the baby, Kate grinned at Felicity's words. "Yeah, but if we just scream when we're mad and throw things, it's apparently wrong," she joked. "You will. I think there's some inherent Mom thing that all women have. Kids come around, and it just turns itself on."

Except for Kate. The idea of having a kid was terrifying. She was much better handling them, making them laugh, and then returning them to their parents. Still, seeing Tommy had put an instant smile on her face. The power of babies and children in general was a powerful one.

"And I was right about that flower. Not that I doubted myself, or you."

Felicity blushed at the complement and thought about that for a moment and realized that maybe she needed to visit that quiet spot past the waterfall and clear her own head. It was a good idea.

"Isn't it funny how when we're little, some things are okay because we're too young to understand and then as a grown up, you're suddenly not allowed to do them anymore. There has been a few times when I feel that a good long tantrum might actually fix my moods when I'm angry." Childbirth notwithstanding, that was a long angry tantrum that she was choosing to forget.

Wedge had been missing the bonfires lately, preferring to stay home with Chayse and Pepper. He knew Pepper enjoyed them so he would sometimes offer to watch their daughter so she could go. At seven months old, Chayse was started to crawl and was very curious about the world around her. Wedge couldn't believe how fast time had flown and he had loved every minute of being a father.

Tonight he decided to go to the bonfire and took Chayse along with him. He found a spot well back from the fire and put down a blanet so Chayse could play. He gave her her favorite toy which was nothing more than a couple of coconut shells she liked to wavw around and settled down to enjoy the evening, keeping a close eye on his daughter.

It was so sweet of Wedge to take Chayse out for a little while. She spent some time tidying up their shelter, changing the sheets on the bed, and picking up Chayse' things, then she finished some mending and finally decided to take a nap. Only the quiet was a little disconcerting and after twenty minutes, she gave up because the only place she wanted to be was with her lover and child.

She came up behind Wedge and waved to Chayse who had looked up at her and smiled, then put her hand on his shoulder and said, "I'm bored."

Wedge looked up at the sound of Pepper's voice and turned to kiss her hand where it lay on his shoulder. "Have a seat," he said and moved over to make room. "Bored, you say? What's wrong?"

He knew that Pepper was always helping someone, she worked with Christine at the clinic and the birth center and he couldn't help but be concerned when she said she was borned. "Are you okay? I hope you're not getting tired of me," he leaned over and kissed her. His tone was joking but part of him worried. Pepper was a beautiful woman and he loved her more than anything but he was sometimes that she would decide that she would rather be with someone from her own owrld.

Pepper laughed and reached down and picked up Chayse who had done her version of crawling, something between a crawl and a scoot over to her mother and gave her a big wet kiss, which resulted in a squeal and a laugh, the spun her around and sat her back down on the ground with her toys. "Of course not. I'm perfectly fine. I tried to take a nap but it's dull back home without the sounds of the two of you, so as much as I appreciate you taking her and giving me some quiet time, I'd rather be here."

She nudged him with her shoulder and wiggled her eyebrows. "And this bonfire seems a bit more low key and peaceful, which I like."

Clarke Griffin & Octavia

Fresh from the whole hot sauce fiasco, Clarke was settled on the sand, not far from the bonfire. The sun was sitting low and already the evening colors of oranges, reds, and a deepening purple painted the sky. With the fire flickering and crackling in her ears, Clarke believed nothing could get better than this moment. It was so peaceful here on the beach, murmurs of conversation here and there, but otherwise quiet aside from nature's noises and sounds. It was difficult to think about the world she'd come from when so much beauty resided around her. Sometimes, it could even seem like more of a nightmare than reality. Especially on such perfect evenings like this.

The blond sipped her water and let out a sigh of contentment. The gods and goddesses made this place irresistible and impossible to ever want to leave. Clarke couldn't imagine ever wanting to leave this place, but she had once upon a time. Considering what she recently left behind, she could understand why she had to return home. Then again, a lot of her wished she never had. Part of her blamed herself for Lexa's death because she believed if she hadn't been there, Lexa might still be alive. She would still be Commander. More so, she would still be alive and Clarke wanted that more than anything else. It was too late though and the blond knew it, but that didn't make it an easy acceptance either.

Octavia was making more of an effort to be part of the island society again, so she headed to the bonfire in a strapless dress that hung just past her knees. Her hair was hanging in loose waves around her shoulders and she wasn't opposed to the idea of taking someone home with her if things worked out. If not, well, she could still enjoy the evening and the company.

After a moment of hesitation when she spotted Clarke, she took her drink over and settled next to the other girl. They hadn't spent a lot of time together here, but there was no reason why they shouldn't. "Hey, Clarke," she said, greeting her with a smile. "Enjoying the evening?"

At the sound of shifting sand, Clarke looked up and was pleasantly surprised to find Octavia settling in the empty place beside her. She hadn't seen much of the other woman, but Clarke knew she was last who should judge about being of the anti social environment. She found it difficult to connect with people at times even if everyone here was very friendly and very open with each other. Her mentality remained stubbornly the same even if the setting around her was far from the world she'd once inhabited. Maybe Octavia felt the same, but from the judge of dress-a lovely strapless garment-Clarke figured the other woman was settling in better than she was. Then again, she had been here longer so it wasn't surprising.

"Hey," Clarke greeted, flashing a friendly smile of her own. "Nice dress," she added. Clarke found she was not a big fan of dresses and found herself much more partial to pants, but unfortunately for her, it was also quite warm here a good amount of time. Clarke settled for tanks and if possible, she would add in a pair of shorts. It was more ideal for exploring that way and Clarke was someone who frequently took to the woods here if only to find the good parts of home she did miss. They were rare, but there remained somethings, outside of a certain person, that Clarke did miss like the forests. Venturing into the dense foliage was the only way she could get taste of what she longed for still.

The question pulled the blond from her momentary pondering and she nodded. "Every evening here is beautiful, but you never get tired of it, you know? It's always breathtaking," she replied. "How about you? How have you been?"

"Thanks," Octavia said. On the Ark, she never had a choice about what clothing she wore and was relegated to hand me downs from her mother and Bellamy. On the ground, something like this wouldn't be remotely practical. But here, her leathers weren't practical, so she was learning to adapt.

She considered Clarke's question. "I'm doing well," she said after a moment. "I'm glad I came here." Being on the island provided a measure of healing that she wasn't sure she could have experienced back home in the wake of Lincoln's death. "Everyone is really nice. And hot." The sex was nice too. "How about you? Settling in okay?"

In the wake of losing the man she loved, Clarke knew that coming here was the best choice for her. Back in their world, all the death and the pain would not have given Octavia the tools necessary to heal in any way, shape, or form. Being here could grant her a sense of peace and a chance for her to take the time she needed to heal. In a way, it was the same for Clarke. Coming here gave her the opportunity to heal too because back home, she would have been forced to immediately move on and accept the loss of Lexa without a time to properly mourn the loss of her lover.

"It seems to have helped you a lot," Clarke replied with a small smile. "I think its helped me too in ways. I wouldn't have had the chance to properly mourn Lexa back home. I just had to move on. Like I always did. You weren't allowed to feel grief because you have to focus on everyone else's survival." As a representative of her people, Clarke had to always put them first and what was best for them required Clarke to keep a solid steel external front despite the fact that she was obviously dying inside.

Clarke nodded. "I think so. It's just a lot of new things to take in. I'm not use to...peace. I'm adjusting though. It'll just take me time to let go of what happened in our world."

They had a lot in common when Octavia really thought about it. Sure, their upbringings on the Ark couldn't have been more different, but they both cared about their people and felt the drive to do whatever they could to protect them. And they had both lost someone they loved. That was something Octavia wished they didn't have in common.

"It was always about the next crisis at home," she said. "As soon as we got one thing resolved, another came along." None of them could have ever anticipated what was waiting for them on the Ground. "Here, we're part of building something new, not tearing something down."

They also didn't have to fight for their lives. That was a nice bonus.

Octavia was right; it was always about the next crisis at home. Once one problem was solved, another, more potentially dangerous situation arouse to take it's place. Sometimes, the action was a direct consequence of a prior problem and the solution they'd come up with. There was never a moment to breath or to actually appreciate all the beauty of what the Ground actually held for all of them. There always had to be a bit of violence along with growth and settling. People always had to die for someone else to prosper somehow and Clarke hated it.

At least here, they had a chance to take that time and appreciate what Earth had to offer them. They could take in the beauty around them without having it be drenched in bloodshed and scented with death. There was only peace here and life. There was only the opportunity to produce peace and life here without the cost of if being lives. "I know and it felt as if we never really solved anything," she replied with a soft sigh. "And yeah, here we can actually build something without having to destroy to do it."

"It is a nice change," Octavia said. "Did I tell you that I had a baby for Arva a few months back?"

She sometimes wondered how her daughter was doing, but she assumed that the girl was happy and well cared for by the goddess. Sometimes she missed Jordan, but she understood why he felt like he needed to return home. They hadn't been a couple or anything, but she liked him and they had great sex. Of course, there were plenty of other people here that she had great sex with, so that wasn't necessarily a bad thing.

Thinking about sex, she couldn't help but look over at Clarke and appreciate how attractive her friend was. "Did you ever sleep with Bellamy?" she blurted out.

"Nice" was an understatement for the both of them. It was amazing and a great change for them. No longer did they have to fear war, death, or even pain. In this world, such concepts did not exist. All that did exist? The possibilities of happiness, joy, and love. The chance at growth here was tremendous and Clarke knew once she embraced it, let go of the past, she could have a wonderful life here. If only it was so simple as saying it to herself. No, Clarke would get there eventually and she knew it. Without Lexa, as selfish as it sounded, Clarke did not want to return to their world. The same predicaments would arise and unfortunately, Clarke predicted that if she dared to care for someone else like she had Lexa and Finn, they would end up dead too.

At the mention of Octavia having a baby, Clarke looked over at her friend, eyes wide with astonishment. "Really? Octavia that's great!" Clarke broke into a bright smile and leaned over to wrap her arms around her friend in a tight hug. "Congratulations! Was it a boy or a girl? Who was the father? Is the baby with Arva?" Clarke asked curiously. She knew that was a lot of questions, but Clarke was happy for her friend. Back in their world, something this marvelous might never have occurred, but here, it was expected and possible. Life was precious whereas in their world, it was not nearly so much to people. Clarke cared for human life, coveted it as a healer, but she'd taken her share of lives. Though she was not sure if she would have a child here, but at least here, she would not have to take anymore of it.

And Octavia had a more than interesting question, but was it unexpected? Considering Clarke and Bellamy's position of co-leaders of the 100, it was not really unexpected or surprising in a way. The two of them had spent a lot of time together, working to take care of the 100 at first and then all the Sky people from the Arc. They had both pushed the lever that extinguished and exterminated the people of Mount Weather. Both would bear that burden for the rest of their lives. Many of the things in common, what they shared, were of the horrible variety. It is what bonded them in a way. "I guess I should have expected that one, huh?" Clarke replied with a small smile. "No. I never slept with your brother. We are completely platonic." If there were feelings on Bellamy's side, he'd done a decent job of concealing them though Clarke was not completely blind to what Bellamy did for her. He was her protector.

Octavia was happy to return Clarke's hug. "A girl," she said. "And, yes, I let Arva raise her. She may join us eventually. Some of the other children have." Part of her was curious to see what her daughter would be like, but another part would be okay with not meeting her. That might end up being weird.

"Good," she said, finding she was relieved by her friend's answer. If Clarke had ever slept with her brother, then she would be completely off limits to Octavia here. Not that she had any idea if Clarke would even be interested in her like that, but it was nice to know the option was there. "Have you been indulging at all since getting here?"
