A while back, some people were talking about making a calendar. In order to do that, we'd need to map the stars and figure out the cycles of the moon and all that kind of thing. Cisco and I have managed to put together a sextant, it's not the best but it should do the job. I was wondering if anyone had experience with star mapping and would like to help. It might take a while but I think a calendar is something we could use. So whoever would like to help, let me know.

What sort of information are we looking to include on a calendar?

Mostly it's a way of keeping track of time. Especially with babies being born, it'll help to know their ages if we have some kind of time-keeping system.

That could be accomplished with a board and tick marks.

However, I enjoy the idea of a calendar for other purposes as well. Perhaps holidays. I'm sure that with all the varied backgrounds of everyone here, there are traditions to learn and enjoy all over.

That's true.

We've talked about holidays before. I know that there were some ideas being floated around. Once we figure out the months and things, we can start talking about what we want to do. I grew up in the temple so time there is way different from time here and I'd be interested in hearing what sorts of holidays that other people celebrate.

Why don't we start with day 1? I would hate to alienate anyone who doesn't follow one calendar versus another. Maybe we even need to make up something new entirely.

We were planning to do that. That way we start at the same place.

Actually no. I didn't even realize I said that but that's a good one.
