"It's better to be afraid of spiders than bunnies," he declared, pushing the car into drive. "My girlfriend has this weird and irrational fear of them. She's even spent hours debating on why they shouldn't be allowed carrots, since having better eyesight would only make them more deadly." He smiled at her, another friendly gesture. Xander had to make sure that Faith stayed comfortable. Calm. Relaxed. It was the only way to get her to the Hyperion without physically restraining her. The downside to this whole amnesia bullshit? Xander wasn't so sure if her abilities were refrained. Xander really didn't want to try and put down a hysterically mind-wiped Slayer. God, he couldn't even begin to imagine. Nope, the calm and easy way was best. And it also seemed to be working. When he got her home with the more capable crowd, he'd let them take over from there.
"It...does." Xander paused. He needed to handle this one carefully. "It's a big city. Place like this draws in all kinds of nasties." He turned the wheel, making a U-turn. "I would know, I sort of..." Xander shrugged, waving a hand slightly in no particular direction. "I do this kinda thing a lot. It's a really weird hobby, stopping muggers and crazy people from attacking those like you." Except that was her job. "So, yeah. It's a common thing. And, no, I'm not a cop."
