She hadn't been raised in the lap of luxury with a butler, and her father, while brilliant at what he did, couldn't cook to save his life. Babs was used to either going out to eat on her birthday, cooking for herself, or making do with a bowl of frosted flakes. She'd never minded either of the three options. The one or two times Bruce had tried to get her to allow Alfred to prepare a meal, she'd refused. She loved the man, but she'd never been a manor and butler kind of girl and he wasn't there to begin with. So despite it being her own birthday, Babs entered Bruce's kitchen after a day at the library and started cooking dinner. She didn't mind doing it at all, in fact she enjoyed it. Determined to have a normal and semi-relaxing week before turning her attentions towards going after the Joker full force, cooking was one thing that Babs could do that really was both normal and relaxing.
By six ten, twenty minutes before they were supposed to start, she had everything done and was pouring herself a large glass of red wine that she'd helped herself to from Bruce's collection. It was better than anything she had in her tower.
"Dinner's ready!" Babs shouted out after a few moments of blessed silence. Sometimes she forgot what a room was like without the constant whir and hum of computers or the constant squawking of little children. Getting away from all that was exactly what she needed.
