Aang left not to long after his graffiti. It wasn't hard to find the fires, because the closer he got the thicker the air. Their was ash raining down and it felt disturbingly like home. The Avatar rode in on Appa's back, the city was ominously silent the closer he got to the flames. He shivered and stood up on the neck of the tall bison, using a combination of his glider and air bending abilities he cut in closer to get a better look. He probably should have waited for Peter, or one of the Slayers-but this was indirectly because of him. People were in danger again from the fire nation because of the Avatar. He had to do something about it. That's why he was there at the hotel wasn't it? To help? It wasn't like he was going after vampires on his own or anything reckless like that. Just a fire. One of the elements. One of the elements he was terrified of.
He could feel his body locking up as he circled in and landed on a near by roof top to watch the destruction. It was happening again. Aang was so afraid he gripped his staff a little closer and watched the raging flames. Watched them lap at the side of a building. It was almost memorizing. He heard the crack of flames against the building, and drywall crumble to the streets where people screamed and woke him from his daze. "Oh my god." To him it felt like the building was falling in slow motion, he sent a powerful shockwave of air towards the falling debris and split it into thousands of tiny pieces. Then he sent a horizontal gust of air that seemed to almost sweep it out of the air to the side of the people down below. Aang touched a hand to his chest as his heart raced. Why did it have to be fire?
