"You're human. By nature, selfish is part of the package," he replied dismissively. In comparison, Lindsey put however selfish she felt to shame. Most of his life had been about what he wanted, taking it and not feeling ashamed, aside from the moments of guilty conscience. He just didn't give a damn.
"Damn right it would be. I'd be beaming with pride the entire time I watch you give her a verbal lashing." Lindsey pushed up from the couch after slowly sliding his shoulder out from underneath Cathy's head. He turned to lean down and kiss the top of her head.
"I'm going to go for a run, work off some excess energy. You all right for a little while?"
