He was ready to lay out the reassurance. There was also the point that acknowledging that both of them were getting smacked by some goddamn whammy would mean having to accept the fact that they were under some kind of attack. Lindsey wanted to take care of it without acknowledging that point at the moment, while silently accepting that it was there and couldn't be completely ignored.
With each toussel, his hair stuck out more but he made no move to swat the offending hand away. Damn. He was tired. "Somehow I doubt that, babe. But there won't be much changing going on. Promise."
He was silent as he studied her hand, letting seconds pass before he finally replied. "You were brought to a different reality by higher powers, one where the supernatural and all things that could lurk in the dark also exist where it didn't before, not in your reality. You've learned how to approach that, to play caution." He put his other hand on top of hers.
"You suffered something no one should ever have to and came back from it. That's not easy, no matter the how of it. Now you're sitting beside me right now, different and yet all the same. That's what makes me say that."
