He was shaken. For one very long moment, he'd been convinced that he'd lost her again. It had all been so real, her fear and the unfairness as her life had just been cut short. What she must have gone through in the moments before. He met her gaze with a wary smile as she studied him. "I'm fine. Just..."
He let it trail off. Anything he could come up with would be just as suspicious and she probably had a faint idea anyway. Either way, this had to end. Neither of them were getting sleep (not that he did anyway) and it would wear them down worse and worse.
"Good. Beats the shit hitting the fan," he replied as he shifted around for her to sit closer. "It was time for a change. Now if I can just shave on a regular basis, I might pass for a human being once in a while." He shrugged. "The usual." Which was a small problem. He needed to be back in a schedule where he needed thirty six hours in a day.
"You're a strong person, you know that?" he said, looking over at her.
