Christina probably should have been inside. Last time she had gone for a walk she had accidentally killed someone who was trying to help her. Thoughts of the man's body, and then of his family kept floating through her head. It made her feel sick.
She had never felt more lonely than she did right now. Sure she had Ruby and Sam, except not really. They only knew who she was, there was no real relationship there, even though Ruby seemed willing to help her.
It was light a nightmare, all of this. She was the Anti-Christ, and the devil was her father. Her father!
She wrapped her arms around herself as she walked down the beach. She was so wrapped in her thoughts she didn't notice there as someone else there until they were a few feet away. As she got closer, something clicked.
"Sam," she said, before she even realized she had said it. It wasn't even a question, it was more of a statement. Somehow she knew who it was even though they had never met in real life before.
