Annie followed alongside of him, seemingly unaware of any other potential threat. It was true, in a way. Her grip on the world they all lived in was tenuous at best. She spent more time than not elsewhere, within her own mind. Alone with her thoughts.
As the sprawling hotel came into view, the girl glanced back to the man beside her. "Bunny gone," she stated, a slight frown upon her face. It had just occurred to her. She'd had Bunny with her when she'd left this place, last time. She didn't have him now though.
And Mantis was gone, too.
For a moment, Annie felt grief swell within her. She continued to steadily pat the head of the doll she carried until she'd calmed a bit. Annie knew she could take comfort in dropping to the ground and rocking, but she could almost hear Sister telling her not to do it. It wasn't something you did when you were out in public.
So instead she patted her doll, played with its hair. And when the grief evaporated in the face of such a normal, calming gesture, she smiled shyly once more. "Home," she stated, as though that answered all of her woes. "Good place. Jared... happy here."
It was the closest she'd come to trying verbal conversation. He didn't tend to ramble, which made conversing with him easier at least.
