Everything was a blur now. The kidnapping, the torture, the rescue. All of it. Heather's mind wouldn't process anything beyond the simplicity of sleep. The short time she'd spent in the hospital to have a cast placed over her left forearm was spent half-awake, even, and once they'd gotten her back to the apartment, a combination of exhaustion and painkillers put her into the first deep, good sleep she'd had in days. She'd slept all through the night and morning, as well as some of the afternoon. Not that it mattered, and not that she didn't need it.
When she did open her eyes, though, it took her a few moments to remember where she was, and that she was safe again. She didn't have to worry about Lilith breaking her bones, or disgusting body part milkshakes, or hellhounds biting at her legs. And not only that, but Jo didn't have to worry about any of that, either. The whole time, Heather had been concerned about the other girl even more than herself, and more times than she could count, she'd asked to see her, to make sure Jo was alright. But Lilith never allowed it. The only solace Heather took was when the whole group had come and busted them out of that place, Jo included. She'd been worse for wear when she saw her, but she was alive, and that was the main thing.
Pushing herself up into a sitting position with one arm, she winced at the ache in her body but managed to shift slowly and carefully. Looking around the room, she sighed quietly and closed her eyes again. She still couldn't really focus on anything, couldn't think straight, but she just knew she was back home. Safe. Everything was okay now.
