Claire was happy Cordy didn't hate her, and Peter didn't seem to either. She wasn't expecting the same response from everyone in the hotel though, and expected the words "awful" and "mother" to be associated with her for a while.
But she had left to protect Aaron. She had left because she knew he'd be better off without her. And she left because Pyramid Head made her realize the truth of her mother's death that scared her to no end - deep down when she said the words "I wish you were dead," she meant them with all her heart.
Aaron deserved better. He really did. And sometimes when you really love someone the best thing you can do for them is let them go.
But now she was back at the hotel. And at least for now she was going to try to be the good mother everyone expected her to be. Maybe it was fate, or God, or something that had caused Aaron to die, and then live again because it had brought them back together. Even if Claire still honestly believed Aaron was and would be better off with her gone.
Right now Claire was taking a walk in a park, and Aaron was once again with Monica. The Aussie needed time to clear her head. She knew she should have been happy, especially with Aaron being alive again, but part of her wasn't happy. Part of her felt completely and utterly broken. Broken to the point she didn't think she'd ever be okay again. Maybe she wouldn't.
Someone had posted on the boards about love being an awful thing, and Claire couldn't help with agree with him on that. Maybe it would be better if she just shut herself off from everyone. There would be less pain all around that way wouldn't there?
She sat down on a park bench, and hugged herself realizing for the first time how cold it was outside. Couldn't just once something good happen to her?
Looking up at the sky her eyes narrowed.
"Okay God, or whoever is up there," she said. "I get it! You hate me! But what did I ever do to you?!"
