Nathan hadn't said a word when they'd retrieved him from the hospital room. He'd answered questions when asked once they had teleported back to the hotel, helping her reassure Sarah and the boys when they had come barelling down the stairs and nearly knocked Heidi off what little balance she had managed to maintain since waking up in the mourge. She kissed them, and promised to be up shortly to help Sarah tuck them back in. They left as reluctantly as she let them go.
Heidi wrapped her cardigan more snugly around her body, and rubbed the back of her still-sore head. Over the years she had developed a knack for discerning the level of her husband's displeasure and rancor from the brands and variations of his tersenesses and quiet spells. After half a minute of weighing the silence pressing against her back, she determined that the quiet behind her which was, in a very contradictory manner, getting louder by the second; a clear-as-klaxon signal that Nathan was about to not only loose his lid, but send it flying with enough force to severely injure someone on the opposite coast. She took in as much air as her lungs would allow, let it out, and turned to face the proverbial orchestra Nathan had assembled.
"Alright," She said, straightening her posture as best she could. "Let me have it."
