The bad part about having a vampire for a husband was that he couldn't come with you when you wanted to go out during the day. Not because he would burst into flames, but he'd probably stop traffic, or be mistaken for a disco ball. But with or without Edward, Bella had stubbornly insisted on going out to pick up a few things that she needed. She could have waited for the sun to set, but by then a lot of the stores she needed probably would have started to close. She had lived in cities before, as long as she was back by nightfall, how bad could it be?
Unfortunately for her she wasn't back by nightfall. She was pushing open the door from the grocery store, stepping out into the florescent lights the lit up the outside of the building. Well, crap. Leave it to slow lines to make her late. Though she couldn't really blame just them, even if she'd like to. Edward was going to be worried, and she was half wondering if he was going to show up any second now to make sure she hadn't landed herself in trouble.
She hesitated for just a moment, waiting to see if he did appear at her side like he so often did. When nothing happened, she turned to start the short walk back home. The non-existent crack in the sidewalk snagged her foot, making her stumble slightly, and drop her bags. Bella looked down at the contents spilled onto the ground and sighed, slouching her shoulders slightly. Of course this would happen. Face reddening slightly, she ignored the couple who looked at her with amused expression as they walked by. Bending down, she began to put things back in her bag. Hopefully she could get back to the apartment without tripping or dropping anything else.
