The Rani wasn't happy, not that that was unusual of course, especially not under the current circumstances. The Master had been here, and though she'd deny it she was looking forward to seeing him again. He did at least make life interesting. So here she was stuck with only the Doctor, he made life interesting too of course but in a less pleasent sort of way.
. She needed to busy herself, but the Rani had no intention of working for anyone, she'd learnt young she didn't follow the rules of others well. She was sure there had to be a niche for her rather special talents in this place. It wasn't as Earth should be, though for now she wasn't going to bother herself with working out why this was. It was after all so much more interesting than the Earth she'd previously had the misfortune to visit. Still more species meant more test subjects, she already offered her services in return for a subject to examine but as yet she'd heard nothing about it. It was easier to just watch of course, she'd seen others announcing their misdeeds and pitied them. Oh the stupidity of some people, did they not understand that you caught more flies with honey than vinegar? No the Rani was not going announce her plans to anyone, these people were clearly too stupid to be trusted with anything she thought of, they'd only ruin things for her. She'd always worked alone, she saw no reason to change things here.
She did feel a little lonely though, it was an entirely new and unwelcome sensation. The Doctor had his TARDIS here, humanoid and able to communicate on a level no other TARDIS could. She'd have liked that, she thought as she walked through the streets, her head held high, but a distracted look on her face. The TARDIS afterall was most likely the only thing she could put up with for more than an hour. Perhaps she'd get lucky, perhaps it would be nice to have a companion, or perhaps there was a reason she was always alone, because people couldn't stand to be around her. It would be different with the TARDIS though wouldn't it? They were bonded, one and the same. She shook her head, clearly she was going crazy. She closed her eyes a moment to focus and walked straight into the person walking in the opposite direction. Snapping her eyes open again she looked at them. Oh dear Rassilon, was she going to have to apologise?
