She'd tried not to run, knowing it might look weird if she showed up there out of breath. She couldn't look too eager. Even though in his mind she'd been away in Elgin for months it still wouldn't make sense for her to want to see him this much. Things had changed though, she'd considered Chris one of her best friends before he'd died, and he didn't know any of that. She knew it was for the better, she didn't know what she'd have done if he'd shown up here remembering dying. Now though she knew what was coming and she had to stop it, simple as that. She doubted it would be that easy though, this was Chris we were talking about, the guy that thought pills and shagging were the most important things in the world. He wasn't that different from Cassie in that way really, only she'd changed when she'd run away to New York, she just hoped she could convince him to do the same. Jal had managed it after all so really how hard could it be?
The not running thing only lasted a minute or two, before she gave up. It had been months since she'd seen him and she desperately needed to get the last image of him out of her head, replace it with that brilliant grin he had before she lost it and accidently blurted out exactly what had happened. She froze when she saw him standing by the bus station, she suddenly felt completely out of her depth. There was no way she'd be able to hold herself together once she was actually with him she was sure of it. She supposed she'd just have to hope Chris was out of it enough to not notice. Closing her eyes she took a deep breath, trying to stay calm. Opening them again she walked across the road and waved at catch his eye. With every step she repeated the words 'I can do this,' to herself, she only hoped it was true.
