Clark had been waiting so long for this moment! There were times when he nearly thought the sun would never return, but he never really gave up hope. The fact that there was a life-and-death battle the night before? Well, that proved more than anything that it would shine once more.
He didn't go to bed or sleep at all, as others likely did. He had a few slight bruises on his arms, a small slash on his cheek.. didn't feel very good, but he was alive. And so, he stood in the gardens section of the hotel all night. He just stood right in the middle, staring up at the sky until morning would arrive.
And it did. It was odd; there was light on the horizon. Light. The bright, yellow orb began to slowly raise as minutes ticked by, and was at a good height in about a half hour. He felt like pinching himself to make sure he was dreaming. But he'd gotten quite a bit of hurt enough already, thanks.
He could also feel it. The sun's rays coming down from the sky, illuminating the stone walkway, the green grass, the flowers and shrubbery, the walls of the hotel. As he stood here quietly, he felt as a boy who'd just gotten his first taste of the perfect sugar cookie. Like a person who had gotten a whole day's rest and now awakened.
The slash on his face sealed itself up. The bruises on his arm, the fatigue in his legs? Gone completely now.. the discoloration had faded until it was nonexistent. He felt very refreshed. He smiled and clenched a triumphant fist at his side, as he felt, as he knew that his powers were finally back at their full strength...
