Who? The Doctor & Martha Jones. Where? The beach followed by the TARDIS. When? After his lunch with Susan. What? The Doctor is reunited with another former companion. And Martha gets some clothing.
After his lunch with Susan the Doctor was feeling quite a good deal calmer. It was unusual for him to do something so close to domestic, and of course Susan's words of wisdom had filled him with a hope that things were going to be somewhat easier for him now that he was surrounded by allies. It had been quite a while since he'd had so much company; it certainly made a change from the way he had been when he first landed in L.A, lost and alone.
And now he had someone else to meet, someone he was going to be very happy to see, especially considering the Master's reappearance. Although, considering the conversation he had just had with Susan he realised that Rose wasn't going to be too happy to hear that he trusted Martha enough to deal with the Master, but apparently not her. Well, he would worry about that when the time came, but for now he had to go with the flow, and the flow had certainly picked up speed over the last few days. Not that he was complaining, the slow-path had been extremely frustrating.
As he walked along the promenade he really wished he had been more specific than just 'the beach', but then again, Martha had only just arrived in L.A, so 'the beach' was complicated enough without adding any landmarks into the situation. Eventually he settled on leaning against the wall with his back to the dark, threatening ocean as he scanned the crowd for a familiar face.
