WHO: Katara and Kristopher
WHAT: Freezing the Hyperion
WHEN: Immediately following the escape thread.
WHERE: The Hyperion Hotel, obviously
RATING: PG (for snake!violence)
STATUS: COMPLETE
Katara had seen Davy Jones enter the hotel in search of Angel. She had debated on following, wanting to defend her friend and boss or at least offer him assistance, but had ultimately decided against it. Angel was one of the best fighters she knew. He'd be fine. Besides, he'd given her a job to do, and she was going to see that it got done.
That decided, the waterbender made her way down the stairs and to the front doors. Peering outside, paling at the sight that met her eyes, she froze in place. It looked like a virtual slaughter out there. Beings - dead beings - were roaming around, people were fighting, there was screaming and bloodshed and Katara really thought she might be ill.
Brilliant blue eyes narrowed as she focused her attention on the one responsible. Willow. Only, she didn't look like Willow anymore. She looked different. Dark. Evil. Somehow, she'd become an enemy, and a powerful one at that.
"I have to help them," the girl finally spoke to the empty lobby. "I need to get out there." Yet, she didn't move. Frozen in place, not due to fear but rather indecision. She wanted to help, but she had another job to do. And, if she didn't do it right, a lot more people were going to suffer because of it.
So in the hardest move in her young life, Katara shut the doors to the Hyperion and threw up a wall of ice that was a few inches thick. Then she turned around and made her way back up the stairs.
Her footsteps were light and steady, the water covering her arms as a means of defense against any snakes she might come across. Reaching the first floor of the hotel, she took a right. There were bits and pieces of snakes all over the floor and she side-stepped them as best she could, freezing one that moved and stomping her foot down on another that was still twitching. Reaching the first bedroom (Angel's room, in fact) she closed her eyes and allowed her senses to reach out to the water that was flowing through the pipes behind the walls.
There was a loud screech as the water came to a stop within the pipes, the temperature of the room dropping significantly as ice began to appear along the seam where the walls met the ceiling. She could see her breath, now, but it didn't matter one bit to her.
Turning to leave, she thought she saw movement in the hallway and instantly froze. "Who's there?" she demanded, brow furrowed and the water raging in snake-like currents around her arms. She raised her hands, one foot sliding back and her hips twisting to the right. Prepared to strike, she tried again.
"Show yourself."
There was movement again, this time near her foot, and she spun on her toes just in time to avoid a snake that was striking out at her. A water whip sent the creature crashing into the wall with enough force to crack it in two. Katara shivered, casting one more glance toward the hallway, then returned her attention to her work. After all, she was just one room down, with a lot more to go.
