Ernie and Hannah
"I have been trying my best," Ernie said, his voice straining with the brand of hurt that existed from seeing one of his best friends inflict pain on the other. "But you didn't need to do that to Justin. It wasn't fair to him to be caught up in our mess." And for what reason? Justin didn't do anything that was terribly out of the ordinary, and Ernie figured that he'd address the potential 'confession' that had arisen at some point.
"I'm sorry that I can't live up to your expectations. Maybe you should just consider whether you think it's worthwhile to continue with this relationship if you can't wait for me to be perfect as you need me to be." He withdrew his hand, suddenly realizing that he was indeed setting his own limits there for her to see.
He just suddenly didn't feel like being there anymore, as he wasn't sure as to whether he could even stand up anymore. His knees felt like jelly and his voice trembled as he spoke. He just had it. That was it for him today. "And I--I'm going home."
