Ernie froze in his tracks for a good moment, trying to assess how drunk or sober Justin was, and whether this had any bearing on his ability to tell any sort of truth. "No--I think you're mistaken," Ernie had said, just since he couldn't quite yet accept whatever Justin was saying. "Actually you did seem quite disappointed about Jasper, right?"
"But that's not to say that you aren't important to me." Despite Justin being absolutely drunk, Ernie had felt the need to be diplomatic. He tried discreetly looking around for Hann, when Justin was joking about shagging him if he weren't straight. According to Ern it probably wouldn't be a completely unusual thought coming from Justin, but he hadn't really heard him say that this straight out before. It probably had more to do with their positioning than anything else.
