Harry actually had the night off and so he was attending the gala as a guest. However, he was still on alert. After his conversations earlier that day, he couldn't help it. He had actually been surprised when they asked him to surrender his wand as well, but he realised they couldn't hold him to a different standard to the other guests.
So feeling a bit naked without his wand, despite his muggle police officer costume, Harry stepped inside and scanned the room looking for familiar faces. He spied one almost immediately. He wove his way through the crowd to say hello to Luna, glad he found someone right away to distract him from his concern about the evening. "Luna, you look brilliant. That's a very nice dress on you," he added.
