Entry tags:!status: incomplete, ^date: november 17 2003, character: anthony goldstein, character: terry boot

Characters: Anthony Goldstein and Terry Boot
Setting: Anthony's flat, around 18:30, Monday November 17, 2003
Summary: Anthony and Terry wonder why Michael's been too quiet.
Rating: Worksafe

Terry left St. Mungo's after filling out the last of the documentation and changing out of his uniform. A quick peek at the journals revealed something odd and troublesome about Michael as Terry was certain that if he weren't going to contact Anthony he'd at least be in contact with Lavender. Or something like that. The more heard from more people, the more concerning this became. He was certain that if he found Michael in his flat without a good explanation, he would hex his best friend for being a git and not contacting anyone for so long.

He was typically optimistic about things, and tried to believe the best about people and the universe, but wasn't going to deny it all when obvious facts point in a clear direction. He shuddered to think what that could mean, but decided that dwelling on it wouldn't make it any better. No, what needed to happen was to check in with his other best friend, the sworn pessimist to make sure that he was doing alright, and then to check Michael's flat to confirm or deny his falling off of the face of the planet.

Apparating in front of Roseglen, he quickly walked from there to Terry's flat, placing a few knocks on his front door before opening up and entering. As per usual. "Hi--it's me. Have you heard from Michael since?" He said into the flat right as he entered.

In which case, Anthony found that he felt quite vindicated in his decision to worry as the chances that that anyone who should have heard from Michael within the past twenty four hours continued to rise. His only answer to that, though was to give a knowing shrug. Most because if it wasn't for the fact that he thought there was plenty to worry about himself, he might've thought Lavender was overreacting.

"That would be a good idea at this point," Anthony replied. Even if it would earn Michael a well-deserved kick in the shins, a part of him was sincerely hoping that Michael was just in his flat being an uncommunicative git.

When Terry indicated the journal reply, Anthony gave it a look. With it, any slight chance of being even remotely hopeful for anything sort of went with it. "Should we even bother with his flat, then? And who exactly is 'someone' supposed to be?"

"I'd think it still prudent to go and check his flat in case. Just to rule out him being seclusive in his flat." Terry suggested, but doubted that point. While optimistic, he wasn't oblivious to the possibility of bad stuff happening. He was just more open to the possibility of things not being as bad as what is thought of at first glance.

"And maybe his journal was stolen--who knows. Some gits play rather stupid pranks. Maybe I'll ask Lavender about her plans around this are, and if we can check his flat then we'll have a better picture of how to proceed." He took out a self-inking quill that was stored in the last few pages of the journal and wrote a short note to Lavender.

Anthony shrugged then, saying, "Yeah, all right." He didn't exactly have the biggest hopes for the visit to prove anything positive, though there was every bit of chance that he was just projecting with his own negativity. He could at least recognise that it was a possibility. Albeit, a small one. A very small one.

And, honestly, Anthony didn't want to have to proceed. It sounded like more bad than good. He didn't say anything at first, waiting as Terry was writing his message. "People being stupid gits aside," he started, "the sort of prank - if it's a prank at all - doesn't even sound as it it would be fun unless you know the people you're 'pranking'."

"I don't know. I doubt that the person would want to do such a thing if they knew Lavender, Michael, or either one of us," Terry said, closing his journal for now and tucking it away into his bookbag. He knew that he'd have a good hex or two for the person who would do such a thing for fun--it was just really poor timing for something like that.

"Well we'd do well to be on our way then," he said turning towards the door.

Anthony was sure he could name at least one person who really wouldn't have any issue whatsoever pulling something that that for their amusement, but for the sake of putting the entire topic behind them, he didn't voice that thought out loud. Which... he actually did that with an almost practised regularity. He assumed it was that he tried not to let his pessimism rain on Michael and Terry's optimism when it wasn't absolutely necessary.

"Seeing as it's the only option we currently have, we might as well." It wasn't said with an attitude, the words more matter of fact than anything else. Pushing himself off the sofa, he moved to follow Terry into the hallway outside of the door to his flat. He only paused to grab his wand and his keys off the coffee table as well as something to wear against the November weather.

Terry readjusted his cloak before getting outside. He didn't quite respond to Anthony's matter-of-fact declaration of their only option.

"I'll see you there shortly," Terry said, before disappearing with a pop only to reappear in an alleyway close to Michael's flat in muggle London. He still had difficulty understanding why Michael would want to live in muggle London (a minor inconvenience when apparating over) when he could just live somewhere in Diagon Alley, but shrugged it off.

He double-checked that his flat was safely locked - part out of a natural habit, part out of his own recent paranoia, only giving Terry a brief nod of agreement before Apparating to the same alley they always used when traveling to Michael's flat.

When he arrived, Terry was already there of course, and Anthony said nothing, only tucking his wand away and adjusting his clothing. He didn't really think that there was a whole lot that could be said at the moment, at least not until the arrived at Michael's and figured out whether there a genuine cause of worthy or not.

Terry led the way towards Michael's flat, quiet at first, just thinking about what in fact they would do if they noticed that Michael wasn't there. He was glad that he had thought well enough ahead of time to change out of his uniform and into some more muggle world-appropriate clothing as appearing odd wasn't on his top list of priorities when visiting the muggle world.

He noticed a muggle walk by with music playing loudly from these string-like projections that went into his ears, and was looking at Anthony about to inquire about such things when he noticed that they were already in front of the building where Michael lived. It was as they approached Michael's flat that he spoke. "So if he isn't there, we probably should go to the Ministry and encourage Lavender to do the same." If she hadn't already done so, he told himself.

Anthony followed Terry towards the building, not thinking about much, or trying not to beyond making sure that he didn't bump into anyone along the way; his last experience had been the exact opposite of fun. Though he tried not to be too distracted in case Terry said something to him.

"Sounds like a plan," Anthony agreed as they reached Michael's flat. But it had less to do with him personally feeling that way, and more to do with the fact that it was pretty much the only option they currently had. There wasn't exactly a wide arrange of things to do with a best mate was possibly missing.

Upon reaching Michael's flat, Terry paused, waiting for Anthony to catch up. Now here we go, Terry thought, as he knocked on the door once.

He listened long and hard for anything within the flat before knocking again. The longer they waited there the more worried he got. He looked at Anthony, a worried expression crossing his face before he continued. He looked up and down the hallway and listened for any approaching footsteps before drawing his wand to unlock the door.
