Who: Agatha Bole & Lee Jordan
What: Drinks at the Leaky
Where: The Leaky Cauldron
When: November 15 - 8pm
Rating: Bad language I assume, but nothing more ;)

Aggie had spent another day of preparation for the search for Greyback. She'd put in a few good words with some old contacts to let her know if they heard of his whereabouts, and had spent a good bit of time chatting with Headmistress McGonagall about the whole deal, as the school was right next to the Forbidden Forest that had once, and may soon again be, the werewolf's haunt of choice.. The prefects would be on high alert, of course, and the school's resources had been offered to Aggie should she have need of them.

She knew she would have to make a trip into the forest sometime soon, but it wasn't a trip made lightly. She wanted her information up to date first, as it was the truly foolish witch who went into the Forbidden Forest unprepared.

Luckily, chance had gifted her with the perfect distraction, preventing her from losing sleep turning the case over and over in her mind. As ever, she dressed to impress, and had garnered a few appreciative looks as she'd entered the Leaky and made her way to the bar to wait for Lee Jordan. She found a stool, crossed her legs, ordered a firewhiskey on the rocks, and did her best to relax.

Lee liked to think that asking a woman out for drinks was more of a pre-date than an actual one. Mainly because of the lack of an actual dinner with courses, and a nice menu and the like. And then there was the Leaky Cauldron half of the deal which didn't scream authentic date all on its own. After all, the Leaky could be a bit... lacking. What he was hoping, really, was that all would go well and then he could ask her on a proper-like outing. He was sincerely hoping that it would though, and he was determined to make it happen. In part because he had a feeling Agatha would be company, and also because he hadn't exactly decided he wanted to deal with some of the bits he'd read in the paper this afternoon.

Despite his stance on what this outing was categorised as, it didn't mean that Lee didn't just throw anything he happened to have in his closet on; nothing could potentially change a woman's mind then the second (or third if he counted her recognising his Hogwarts commentating) impression. Once that was out of the way, it didn't take him very long to make it to the Leaky and as he entered the pub he spotted Agatha sitting at the bar.

He made an instant bee line in her direction, claiming the stool to her right and giving her a wide grin. "Why, hello, Miss Bole."

By the time Jordan arrived, she'd already made a thorough survey of her surroundings. One bartender and two wait staff on duty, two booths full of already drunk revelers, two others taken by couples obviously on a first or second date, half the stools were taken (including the one two down from Agatha on her left, which was occupied by a lout who'd been giving her 'come hither' looks ever since her firewhiskey had arrived, and whom she believed she might have to hex before the night was done), and several tables around the room. Other than the lout, none of them rang as suspicious, not that she would let her guard down.

She grinned back when Jordan sat down, giving him a quick once-over and approving of his appearance. "Hello, Mister Jordan," she replied with a wink. "I'd have ordered for you, but I don't know your poison of choice. I hope your day's been all right."

Lee wasn't really the sort to give his surroundings too much notice on the day to day, but he definitely noticed the once-over he received upon his arrival and his grin widened if that was even possible. It was all a part of human nature, he felt.

"I'm open to almost anything, but at the moment I'll take firewhiskey," Lee replied in good spirit before adding, "The day's been fine enough, though." There was that issue with Zacharias Smith being an twat on the air earlier in the day, but that wasn't the sort of thing he planned to talk about, so it wasn't worth factoring into the day's overall tone. "How about yours? Any ungrateful rescuees to vent about on this fine day?"

Aggie caught the eye of the bartender and motioned with her head for him to come over. She bit her lip at the mention of ungrateful rescuees, unable not to think of Lavender Brown who was likely still in her newly-warded home where Greyback knew she was.

"None I'm in the mood to talk about," she replied. She then waited for the bartender to serve the bloke a drink before continuing their conversation.

"Here's to new friends, and surviving inferi," she joked, lifting her glass up for a toast.

"I can respect that," Lee replied in the time it took for the bartender to reach them. Lee was full of things he preferred not to talk about, though for him it had nothing at all to do with being in the mood. He just didn't much see the point in dwelling when all it would do was make everyone around miserable. It was part of why he was still very much keeping the subject of his nightmares very much to himself, even now. He also didn't want anyone looking at him as if any moment could be his last. "And in that case, I think I'll do my best to keep you entertained with far better things."

He accepted his drink once it was placed in front of him. Lifting his glass, he leaned an elbow on the bar top, prepared to clink his glass against hers as appropriate. "To all of that for sure."

She clinked her glass against his and brought it to her red lips for a long sip of the dark liquid. She tensed briefly when she heard a raised voice across the bar, but relaxed when assessing it not a threat. Merlin, she'd been an Auror far too long when raised voices put her on edge.

"So what kind of entertainmend did you have in mind? After years of hearing your quidditch commentary, I'm interested in seeing what kind of fun you could come up with."

Lee took an easy sip of his drink, pretending to think much on the question he was being asked. When it came down to it, Lee didn't exactly have anything set; there was no plan. He just tended to... wing it on a regular basis, see where things took him.

"I'm loads of fun, day in and day out. Though, far as entertainment is concerned, I'm all for winging it -- unless you happen to be picky on that sort of thing in which case I'm well open to suggestions," Lee grinned again as he set his drink down on the bar top.

"As long as it doesn't involve work and isn't illegal, I'm not picky," she replied.

Speaking of whinging it, she spotted a couple of blokes coming out of the back room where the Snitches boards were. Snitches was a game found in various wizard pubs, similar to what Muggles called darts but with several important differences. Rather than a single central target, it had three, and there were miniature snitches flying all over the board, trying to interrupt the player's shot. The trick was to get as many points as possible, either by landing one's dart in the center of one of the targets, or by nailing a snitch to the board with the dart - double the points if both were done in a single shot.

"You up for a game of snitches? I know they've a few boards in the back."

"Well that rules out a few ideas I might have been considering." Of course Lee was actually joking because he didn't tend to get involved in things that were less than lawful; it was a little different than habitually breaking school rules as a teenager.

He gave a short nod of agreement to the game, saying all the while, "I'm well prepared for the fact that you're likely about to kick my arse at this. It's all right though as I've long ago come to terms with the fact that I'm much better at running my mouth than anything else."

"Well, you never know," she teased.

Taking her glass, she led him through the back door to where the snitches boards were. She picked up two sets of darts and handed him one set.

"Here, you go first. Unless you wanted to make it interesting<?i>..."

"That sounds like a hint towards something very interesting," Lee replied in kind, taking on the same tone Agatha had given him with the comment.

With his own glass in hand, he followed her through the door, taking the set of darts as they were offered to him. Curiosity caught him, just when he was about to agree to going first - possibly with a comment of being the sheep put out to slaughter (in a joke sort of way, of course) - and he gave her a raised eyebrow of interest.

"Interesting, how?" he asked.

She took a few moments to pull off her velvet jacket, feeling much freer in her leather trousers, corset and blouse that showed off her well-earned muscles, and she was now able to move around as needed. It also gave him time to stew in his question before she finally answered it.

"A little wager, and I'll even give you an advantage to even the odds. You get to go twice for every time I go, and you're allowed to try and distract me."

Her eyes on Lee, she threw one of her darts at the board. It immediately slammed the wing of one of the snitches against the surface - it wasn't on the bull's eyes, but it was still a good shot considering she'd gotten her aim from the corner of her eye.

"And you get to choose the wager."

Well, he wasn't exactly sure how he felt about his chances in the face of this idea of a bet. Even with the advantages he was being given. Mainly because Lee had never been exceptionally athletic; the great Quidditch incident in his second year had more than proved that all on its own.

But on the other hand, Lee wouldn't resist a bet, even if he was definitely going into it as the underdog between the two of them. "Any rules or limitations on either the distracting or the waging?" he asked. Though, true trouble maker that he was, he was not above bending them if there were any.

"No limits," she replied with the confidence of a person who rarely lost. "As for rules, let's make it three rounds - so I throw three times, and you six. Whoever's score's highest at the end wins."

She stepped closer to him, her face tilted just so as she looked up at him through her lashes. "Unless, however, you're feeling a little chicken."

"Chicken?" Lee echoed, the raised eyebrow returning in full force. Lee was many things of course, not all of them absolutely positive depending on who you happened to be asking, but one thing he most definitely did not do was shy away from challenged.

"I'd say you were on for it. And while we're playing with fire and whatnot, let's leave the winner's terms to be revealed at the end." He returned the look, something that was almost a smirk curving a corner of his mouth upward. He was already well-prepared to lose, so the only thing that would surprise him at this point would be to win.

Inside she made a little cry of victory as she went to retrieve her dart from the board, setting the tiny snitch free to fly again. These Gryffindors were far too easy. She made her way back over to Lee, switched her darts to her left hand and extended the right to him, much as she had when they first met.

"It's a deal, then. You get to go first, if you like."

When she returned to him, hand held out, he took it in an official shake. "Right, now that that's been decided -- and I think I will be taking the first go, novices first and all that."

Taking a dart in hand and looking at the board, he added, "And don't think I'm not well aware of the fact that I just walked into a trap, because I know." On the last word, he turned to give Agatha a mock glare before returning his attention to the board and positioning himself to aim. Honestly, he'd be proud of himself if it even made the board; he had no plans whatsoever on trying to catch a snitch, too. With all that said, theatrics and all, he took his shot. Which was significantly off from the centre, but it was all the board, which was brill in its own way.

Aggie did her best to look innocent. "What trap? We're just two friendly people out for a game of snitches."

She watched him throw the first dart and winced to herself. Perhaps she'd overestimated his abilities after all, but he looked pleased with his efforts. Perhaps she could help him a little.

She moved to stand behind him, and placed her hands on his shoulders to adjust where he stood. "Don't look at your hand, look at the targets. Choose one of the three circles and toss when it feels right. You've plenty of time, so no need to rush."

"Sure we are, absolutely." Lee gave her a slow nod, but didn't look to be believing her. He'd been mates with George too long to fall for anyone's innocent looks just because they denied being guilty.

He didn't really pay too much attention to Agatha's initial reaction to how well - or not depending on which way you really wanted to look at it - his first toss had gone. Lee supposed his competitive streak didn't really go very deep. (Not if he was actually involved, at least. Cheering from the sidelines and badmouthing other teams was completely different.)

"I warrant tips, then?" He asked, not offended in the least. "Didn't think I was that bad. Or maybe," he gave her a brief look over his shoulder, "I am playing my own game and fooling you all... hustler-like. I'm a brilliant actor, you know."

Even still, he took her tips into account; he didn't want to lose too badly after all.

"I'm sure you've won awards for your acting ability," she teased.

Having remained in position behind him, she slid one of her hands along his arm, positioning it to make his next shot.

"Perhaps I simply enjoy a fair competition. Or perhaps I've other motives you have yet to discover."

Grasping his hand in hers, she shot the dart for him, watching as it hit a snitch but an inch away from one of the targets. "See? You're getting better already."

"I sense a tone in that, one that I'm not quite sure I like," Lee replied, though he wasn't actually bothered. There wasn't too many things that could bother Lee on a regular day-to-day basis.

"Motives I haven't discovered yet, yeah? Do I at least get to know now whether I'd like these motives when I do?" He did his best to keep his eyes on the target as he'd been instructed, even while grinning widely.

"I think my progress is miraculous. Inspirational, even."

"I don't know, perhaps my motives might be right up your alley," she replied with a grin.

She patted his shoulder and took a few steps back, giving him more than enough room to make the next shot on his own - and giving her an excellent view of his backside. Yes, Aggie always had a motive for everything she did.

"Go ahead, without my help this time. Let's see how good a teacher I am."

"Guess I'll look forward to finding out if they do, then." And it would be extremely lovely if they in fact were very much up his alley, which he suspected there happened to be a very good chance that they definitely would be in all actuality. That was promising. Very promising.

Even as he kept his eyes on the board, a new dart in hand, he said, "I wouldn't be too disappointed if this next shot turns out to be complete rubbish. I might just be incredibly awful at this."

Despite that claim, however, he did his best to follow her previous lesson to the best of his ability, and when he finally took the shot it at least made it actually hit close to the centre if not dead on. "On a scale a one to ten, what would you say?" he asked as he turned to face her with a wide grin.

She grinned back, pleased to see how happy he was to have hit the board well. Next to the board, a slate of black wrote upon iself his score.

"I'd say a 7, and learning quite quickly."

She accio'd his darts and handed them to him, then with barely any preparation time, she threw her darts one by one, each snagging a snitch close to the targets.

"Though I do hope you won't quit your day job," she teased, then leaned up to give him a quick kiss on the cheek before retrieving her own darts.

"I can be very quick on the uptake," Lee replied. His tone could have been smug if he'd actually meant the statement in any sort of serious capacity, but it was more a joke and an obvious one at that.

He took his darts and watched as she made her shots, not at all feeling awkward about the fact that her shots were better than his. She actually needed her reflexes on a day-to-day basis, after all.

The kiss - even if only on the cheek - was a surprise. A welcome one overall considering his eventual plans to ask her out for a legit evening of the non-platonic kind that, and he kept an amused curve to his lips as he watched her retrieve her darts. "And deprive the world of the chance of hearing my deep and incredibly sexy voice on the air on an... almost regular basis?" He still had hopes for his own show within the next year, though (provided he didn't die, but he'd been ignoring that regularly for a reason). "Never."
