Lavender looked over at Hermione, her face tugging into a very casual smile. "Hello," she said. That was the easier thing to say because the question that followed the greeting was one of those subtly loaded on and the answer always dependent on who was asking and what sort of intention they had. And Lavender wasn't sure that Hermione really wanted to know.
Luckily, that was the point where the chocolate lab finally made her way over, nudging at Lavender's hand. She made a small face at the dog before giving her a good scratch behind the ears as she settled into a sitting position next to her. It was strange to think for a point in her life, the point directly after Fenrir came into it, that she was scared of dogs even her own who wouldn't hurt anyone.
"I'm not bad," she said doing a decent job of making sound just a little bit believable, when she was anything but. "Did you come in to pick something up? We have a lovely almond bread today and the apple spice cake is quite good too."
